Director - Cardiac Critical Care Services (Hickory, NC)

Summary:
The Cardiac Critical Care Services Director supports the Cardiovascular ICU and Coronary Care Unit. The Director is accountable for high-quality, safe, and appropriate nursing care, the competency of clinical staff, and appropriate resource management related to patient care.

The Director of Cardiac Critical Care Services will assume responsibility for assisting in assessing, planning, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating nursing practice in each unit. The Director will supervise and evaluate the work activities of all nursing personnel, provide clinical leadership, and set strategic and long-term goals for the nursing staff. The Director will assess performance objectives for each nursing unit and organize, coordinate, develop, and review policies, procedures, and nursing protocols to meet all regulatory, compliance, and quality care standards.

Job Description:

• Develops and implements departmental goals, plans, and standards consistent with the clinical, administrative, legal, and ethical requirements/objectives of the organization.
• Directs and evaluates departmental operations, including patient care delivery, information technologies, service level determination, and complaint management, to achieve performance and quality control objectives.
• Plans and monitors staffing activities, including hiring, orienting, evaluating, disciplinary actions, and continuing education initiatives.
• Prepares, monitors, and evaluates departmental budgets and ensures that the department operates in compliance with allocated funding. Coordinates and directs internal and external audits.
• Creates and fosters an environment that encourages professional growth.
• Integrates evidence-based practices into operations and clinical protocols.

• Bachelor in Nursing (Master's Degree is preferred)
• North Carolina RN License or Compact State RN 
• BLS & ACLS Certifications
• At least 5 years of RN experience, ICU experience required
• At least 2 years of management experience
• Proven leadership ability and hospital operational ability
• Ability to serve as a role model and advocate for the professional discipline of nursing.
