Seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner to join our Adult Palliative Care service team, pivotal in enhancing our interdisciplinary program, supported by a team of Hospitalist physicians, Nurse Practitioners, skilled Case Managers, and a Spiritual Care Director. Ideal candidates will possess or be willing to obtain an ACHPN certification.


Summary:
As a Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP) in Palliative Care, you will act as an advanced practice provider (APP), delivering direct and indirect care to inpatients. This role includes performing comprehensive assessments, managing symptoms and medications, and consulting in various units such as critical care, oncology, neurology, cardiology, and general medical and surgical units. You will work with referring providers to develop care plans and discuss goals of care with patients and families to ensure their treatment preferences are met.

You will also co-manage the care of acute and chronically ill patients from admission to discharge, carry out advanced nursing tasks, and ensure patient care meets APP standards. A strong basis in evidence-based practice and education is needed to maintain a safe, quality care environment. You must also show advanced medical and nursing knowledge, clinical competence, sound judgment, and professional communication, along with keeping up-to-date documentation and professional development.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Active Alabama state Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP) license
  • At least 1 year of Palliative Care or Hospice experience as an NP
  • BCLS & ACLS certifications
  • Passed the SAMC pharmacology exam
  • DEA certification
  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 1 year of Nurse Practitioner experience
  • ACHPN certification or willingness to obtain
