Job Summary:
Process and Control Automation Engineer will design, develop, and implement automation systems to optimize industrial processes. Configure hardware and software, ensure system efficiency, and troubleshoot issues. Collaborate with teams to integrate new technologies and improve processes. Strong problem-solving skills and automation experience required.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, design, maintain, and commission automation and control systems for industrial equipment.
- Design and program logic for PLCs, drive systems, and combustion control systems.
- Develop SCADA and operator interface applications.
- Create and maintain databases and custom computer programs for PLC and SCADA system interfaces.
- Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical components, diagnose and resolve issues using standard procedures.
- Produce project manuals and electrical schematics using CAD software.
- Develop scope of work, cost estimates, and budgets for electrical systems.
- Gain in-depth knowledge of all aspects of SCR systems, including fluid systems, operations, metallurgy, maintenance, material handling, and furnace systems.
- Assist with on-site commissioning of SCR system components.
- Transfer technical knowledge to SCR customers through training, discussions, presentations, and startup assistance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering field.
- At least 8 years of experience in the design, commissioning, troubleshooting, and/or operations of PLC process and control systems, particularly for combustion management systems.
- At least 5 years’ experience in the chemical or manufacturing industry, with expertise in industrial processing equipment, instrumentation and control, AC and DC drives, PLCs, combustion systems, design, maintenance, and/or operation.
- Practical experience working on the floor with technicians; this is a hands-on role involving PLC process and controls, not database processes and controls.
- Experience with Allen Bradley or Siemens PLCs and drive systems.
- Experience with SCADA systems and HMI applications.
- Willingness to travel internationally approximately 40% of the time.
- Office or home location based in Carrollton, GA.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD for CAD tasks.
- Strong computer programming, networking, database, and reporting skills.
- Excellent communication, organization, presentation, interpersonal, and project management skills.
