- Patient Care and Collaboration
- Work within a multidisciplinary team to achieve optimal patient outcomes and address specific pharmacotherapy goals.
- Serve as a preceptor for pharmacy students and residents, assisting with clinical skills development.
- Clinical Decision-Making
- Accurately process orders, assess drug appropriateness based on patient-specific factors, and document pharmaceutical interventions.
- Regularly provide patient-specific and general drug information support.
- Quality and Safety
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to optimize drug therapy, reducing risks of adverse effects, interactions, and complications.
- Participate in quality management initiatives such as medication evaluations, error reporting, and inventory control.
- Educational Leadership
- Develop and deliver educational programs for pharmacy and hospital staff.
- Pursue continuous professional growth, expanding expertise as a Pharmacy Clinical Specialist.
- Research and Innovation
- Engage in quality improvement projects and research, with opportunities for publication and presentations.
- Support formulary standards and promote cost-effective medication therapy.
Education
- Graduate of an accredited program required for the certifications or licenses listed below.

- Completion of an ASHP-accredited post-graduate year one (PGY1) residency program, or equivalent three years of experience in pharmacy practice.
- Preferably completed ASHP-accredited post-graduate year two (PGY2) residency or a fellowship.
- Meets criteria for an ASHP-qualified residency preceptor within one year of employment.
