Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Engineer specializing in High Voltage Cable Design to join our client's team in Huntersville, NC. This role requires a technical expert who can design complete HV/EHV cable systems, including all associated components and processes, while also leading and mentoring a team of engineers.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design comprehensive cable system solutions, including grounding details and bonding schemes, for voltage classes ranging from 69kV to 500kV.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert in electro-mechanical behavior for HV/EHV cable systems, supporting both installation and field applications.
  • Prepare specifications, proposals, and technical documentation, collaborating closely with Sales, Marketing, and Project Management teams.
  • Support manufacturing processes, develop testing plans, and solve production issues in real-time.
  • Lead investigations into technical problems, develop solutions, and create related reports and recommendations.
  • Manage and execute Research & Development projects, adhering to budget and timeline constraints.
  • Represent the company in technical meetings, conferences, and customer training seminars.
  • Train and mentor junior engineers, providing guidance on projects and technical calculations.
  • Ensure workplace and project site safety, promoting the company's Culture of ZERO.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field with 10 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and achievements.
  • Experience with High Voltage Designing
  • Able to complete Cable Design Solutions with grounding details and Bonding Schemes
  • Able to make formal Technical Presentations to customers.
  • Expertise in underground power transmission engineering and a thorough understanding of related disciplines.
  • Proficiency with industry standards (ICEA, AEIC, IEC, IEEE) and technical calculations (thermal, mechanical, electrical).
  • Advanced skills in software tools such as Cymcap, Comsol Multiphysics, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Matlab, PSCAD, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, along with strong technical writing and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of power transmission cable industry, materials, and testing processes.
  • Experience with programming in Visual Basic or similar languages, particularly for developing Excel macros.
