Position Summary:
The CNC (Computer Numerical Controlled) Operator I sets-up, performs operator level maintenance, and operates CNC machines and equipment.
Job Duties:
- Works from print drawings, instructions, and process documents, in the operation of CNC machines and equipment to run production components to the required specifications.
- Performs a variety of inspection and gaging operations to ensure part quality to the documented quality requirements.
- Makes necessary adjustments, offsets, and changes to CNC machines and equipment to produce conforming components and products.
- Performs operator level maintenance on equipment at the documented level and frequency.
- Establishes and maintains a safe, clean, and healthful working environment in accordance with OHSA requirements and company standards, to include proper use of machining best practices, proper housekeeping, machine safeguarding, and personal protective equipment.
- Records necessary data and production values per the process requirements.
- Assists with the implementation of lean principles and methods, engages in activities that create a continuous improvement environment, sustains lean processes, suggests areas of improvement in quality, cost, delivery, and safety, and actively supports lean, 5S, and value stream management initiatives.
High School Diploma or GED.
Experience Requirements:
- Zero to one year experience in a machining environment utilizing at a minimum conventional machining practices is required.
- Zero to one year experience across multiple conventional machines, tools, jigs, fixtures, and equipment and basic understanding of CNC equipment is highly preferred.
- All employees are expected to demonstrate accountability, collaboration, effective communication, customer focus, and innovation.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers and decimals.
- Proficient Blueprint reading and understanding of Geometrical Dimensioning & Tolerancing.
- Demonstrated understanding and utilization of SPC (Statistical Process Control) and ability to interpret reaction plan associated documentation.
- Knowledge of basic measurement equipment and methods.
- Attention to detail and ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
- Verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to follow policies and procedures.
- Ability to demonstrate accuracy and security of procedures and effectively delegate work assignments.
- Ability to make timely decisions and organize and schedule associates and their tasks.
- Ability to meet productivity standards, observe safety and security procedures, and adapt to changes in the work environment.
Working Conditions:
- Typical manufacturing environment with exposure to loud noises and dangerous chemicals and machinery.
- Must be able to lift and move up to 25 pounds unassisted.
