Position Summary
The Facilities Technician I performs general facilities maintenance tasks and assist in maintaining various facility equipment in accordance with safety, preventative, and predictive facilities maintenance processes and standards.

Job Duties
  • Performs general facilities maintenance, construction, and repair tasks according to service, quality, and safety standards.
  • Installs, inspects, repairs, and performs preventative/predictive maintenance on mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, safety, and waste management systems. Follows standard operating procedures with guidance.
  • Assists with miscellaneous facilities projects, including painting, drywall, carpentry, fixture installation, and moving furniture or materials within the facility.
  • Provides emergency/unscheduled repairs of buildings/grounds and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of buildings, building components, and grounds.
  • Utilizes a work order system to log activities as required. 
  • Performs facilities maintenance duties including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, plumbing, troubleshooting, and repair of wall and floor coverings.
  • Works with or assists trades contractors to complete projects or complex repairs.
  • Performs or assists with the completion of preventive/predictive maintenance on plant facilities and associated equipment.
  • Engages in activities that create a continuous improvement environment, sustains lean processes, and suggests areas of improvement in quality, cost, delivery, reliability, and safety. Actively supports lean, 5S, root cause analysis and value stream management initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Educational Requirements
A high school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is required.

Experience Requirements

One year of facilities maintenance experience with experience in electrical, plumbing, HVAC and/or general repairs is required.

  • Fundamental understanding of plumbing and repair.
  • Fundamental understanding of electrical wiring for outlets and lighting.
  • Basic carpentry and fabrication skills.
  • Ability to distinguish colors of wire in machinery.
  • Ability to safely operate forklifts and other powered industrial vehicles.
  • Knowledge of or the ability to learn the operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of various manufacturing facility equipment systems, such as: air compressors, boilers, chillers, generators, air purification, and pumps.
