Who is I-77 Mobility Partners LLC?

I-77 Mobility Partners LLC will design, build, operate and maintain the I-77 Express Lanes as part of a public-private partnership with the North Carolina Department of Transportation.  The express lanes are 26 miles of dedicated travel lanes from Charlotte to Mooresville that will provide drivers a minimum average speed of 45 mph through the  corridor. Two express lanes will run on I-77 in each direction between Charlotte and Cornelius. One express lane in either direction will run North of Cornelius over Lake Norman in order to minimize environmental impacts.  The I-77 Express Lanes Project is scheduled to open in 2018.

Your next calling:

As a Maintenance Technician you will have the opportunity to operate automotive and maintenance equipment to transport material, equipment and maintenance personnel as well as perform skilled highway maintenance duties. Also, participate in the maintenance of buildings. Additionally, you will have the chance to work with maintenance personnel, receive assignments from Maintenance Supervisors or Manager, and on occasions supervises personnel on various assignments. You will guide or train less experienced personnel on equipment operations and roadway maintenance.

Functions key to success:
  • Operates assigned automotive equipment and construction equipment such as tractors, mowers, sweepers, bucket trucks and Truck Mounted Attenuators (TMA’s), and operate assigned gas or hand tools to complete Daily Assignments.
  • Inspects equipment for proper operating condition, makes minor repairs or adjustments, lubricates and assists in making repairs as required.
  • Performs miscellaneous skilled maintenance on the I-77 Express Lanes Project as required.
  • Performs miscellaneous duties, such as general traffic control, pavement repair, landscaping, painting, relamping, miscellaneous barrier repairs and available on-call after hours for emergency maintenance service, as needed.
  • Responds to traffic incidents, provides roadside assistance to motorists on I-77 between uptown Charlotte and Mooresville and available on-call after hours for emergency incident response, as needed.
  • Performs miscellaneous building maintenance as required
  • Any other job duties as assigned.

What you bring to the table:

You’ve worked hard to achieve success in your career, now put it to use. Do you have a valid Driver's License? Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is not a requirement but may be requested to obtain in the future. We are looking for experience in roadway repair, traffic management, traffic control operations and personnel management. Previous experience with construction vehicles and basic knowledge of automotive mechanics is very important. Finally, a cherry on top would be prior roadway maintenance experience or college equivalent.

  • Good interpersonal and organizational skills
  • User level of Microsoft Office (Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint) and must be capable of learning and use other  PC-based software.
  • Must be able to multitask and problem solve within a fast paced environment.
Our working environment:
I-77 wants to ensure that all of their employees are comfortable and able to work in the type of culture and environment we have built our business on. Effective communication will be key for this role and will require you to talk and hear others. You will be working on the roadway, the noise level ranges from moderate to high given that the employee will be working around heavy machinery and in traffic conditions. You must be able to individually lift and/or move up to 80 lbs. You will be frequently required to stand, walk, climb, drive and sit for long periods of time during day and night operation. You must have the ability and willingness to work alternative work schedules, including weekends and night shifts.
