Who is I-77?
I-77 Mobility Partners LLC is financing, developing, designing, constructing, operating and maintaining the 26-mile I-77 Express project as part of a public-private partnership with the North Carolina Department of Transportation. The tolled express lanes run adjacent to the general-purpose lanes on I-77 between uptown Charlotte and Mooresville. I-77 Mobility Partners is responsible for operations and maintenance of all lanes, both express and general purpose, and right of way within the designated project corridor limits.

Your next calling: 
As the Health & Safety Specialist (Night Shift), you will under general supervision, assists in supervising, implementing, monitoring and coordinating environmental health and safety programs, including safety inspections, accident investigations, and safety training.

Functions key to success:
  • Participates/Assists in the development and implementation of safety programs related to Maintenance and Tolling activities, and other OSHA safety compliance programs.
  • Advises the Operations & Maintenance, and ITS staff on safety protocols and procedures to ensure the safety of workers as regulatory compliance as mandated by local, state, and federal agencies, including the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
  • Performs hazard analyses and recommends mitigation procedures to the project including supervision of critical risk controls.
  • Participates in the development and implementation of department safety work order tracking and reporting.
  • Conducts routine and follow-up environmental health, safety and hazard inspections of the work zone and building facilities.
  • Responds to emergency situations involving hazardous materials, fire and smoke incidents, or unknown hazards; assists with preparing reports of findings and submits recommendations to Senior Management.
  • Analyzes accident and incident reports for trends and develop reporting tools to facilitate lead indicators; may make recommendations for correcting unsafe conditions and actions.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

What you bring to the table:
You have worked hard to achieve success in your educational career, now put it to use. Do you have an associate degree (preferred) and at least 3 years of related experience?  If the answer is yes, you can check off another box.

With success comes a high level of professionalism. We already know you possess the following qualities, but we just wanted to remind you of what is important to I-77:
  • Skill in performing safety inspections ensuring compliance with OSHA 10 & OSHA 30 safety standards.
  • CPR/First Aid Certified (preferred)
  • Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel.
  • Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports.
  • Ability to develop, implement, and enforce safety programs and protocols.
  • Skill in performing safety inspections and ensuring compliance with OSHA safety standards.
  • Knowledge of federal, state and local safety regulations, protocols, and/or procedures.
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
  • Skill in developing safety procedures and protocols.
  • Ability to investigate and analyze information and draw conclusions.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
  • A valid driver’s license in good standing and be able to successfully pass a background screening.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

There could be a time when you may need to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Finally, there will be some local travel that will be required.
