JOB SUMMARY

Manage the metrology department.  Coordinate work activities for Blue Light and CMM Programming, Layout Inspection, and Tool and Gage calibration activities.   Work cooperatively in a matrix environment to support the company’s continued growth in the Aerospace and Industrial Gas Turbine investment casting markets.

Gather, interpret, and audit data to determine acceptance of product to customer specifications (internal and external).

Identify/define problems; perform root cause analysis and support solution implementation to address problems that affect yield, rework, and overall quality of the product using a standardized approach (Six Sigma, etc.)

Take a leadership role in resolving cross-functional problems.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/DUTIES
Coordinate work activities for the Metrology Department
  • Assist with Blue Light and CMM Programming
  • Develop and document quality work procedures and processes.
  • Interact with CPP NDT level III personnel to ensure product compliance.
  • Oversees conformance and quality enforcement of casting manufacturing process. 
  • Manage resolution of non-conforming material/processes.
  • Support the identification of process yield issues using various data analysis techniques (statistical, mathematical, DOE, 6 Sigma, etc.) to uncover variables in the process that are not maintained in a controlled fashion.
  • Communicate with customers to resolve/address quality system concerns/inquires.
  • Participate during customer/external audits including preparation, guidance and closure.
  • Drive closure of preventative/corrective actions, customer returns/inquires.
  • Coordinate with engineering team the applicable qualification documentation and data submittal packages.
  • Review quality shipment documentation including certificates of conformance and other quality audit checklists.
  • Supervise and verify the accuracy of gage R&R studies, process capability, SPC, correlation and other data related statistical activities.
  • Work closely with other departments to ensure organization objectives are achieved.
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere with respect and communication in a professional manner.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education: BS in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or 3-5 years of applicable experience.
  • Experience: Quality systems, and/or formal training in Quality systems.
  • Experience: CMM and / or Blue Light Programming
  • Other Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Basic engineering skills. Knowledge and application of statistics / 6 sigma methodologies. Knowledge of computer applications. Quality system and problem solving skills. Able to interpret customer drawings, specifications, reports and basic working knowledge of GD&T.  Good communication skills. 

WORKING CONDITIONS
Working Environment:   Office Environment with frequent activity in the factory.
  • Physical Demands:    Sitting/Standing for extended periods of time, able to lift up to 20lbs, extended periods of time using a computer screen.
  • Travel Requirements: Occasional travel.
  • Safety Glasses:    Needed in all areas of the plant.
  • Steel toe shoes:  Needed in all areas of the plant.
