JOB SUMMARY
Product Engineer is the lead for casting development.  This includes but is not limited to: Planning, gating development, establishing foundry parameters, work instructions and technique cards.  Therefore managerial skills are critical.  engineer needs to be capable of working with all Microsoft Office software.  Good working skills in using SolidWorks CAD software, blue print reading, tooling design / manufacturing and strong knowledge of the dimensional aspects of the castings environment.  The Product Engineer is also  required to participate as a member of Continuous improvement Teams.  The objectives are to improve and/or repair existing casting processes, and/or as part of a cost cutting initiative. The Product Engineer will be working cooperatively in a team environment to develop robust manufacturing processes to support the company’s growth in the industrial and aerospace investment casting markets.
 
Problem solving, the concepts, and tools of problem solving are essential to the job. Engineers will be required to identify problems, generate alternatives, and implement solutions to problems that affect yield, rework, and overall quality of the product using a standardized approach. Occasionally take a leadership role in resolving cross-functional problems.

ESSENTIAL TASKS AND DUTIES       
  • Responsible for the development of stainless steel and super alloy castings.  Including the  planning, gating development, establishing foundry parameters.  Develop work instructions .maintain, and teach “best practice” investment casting procedures and practices.and customer interfacing
  • Responsible for customer interfacing.  Must be able to interpret customer specifications relative to establishing internal written NDT specifications.
  • Knowledgeable in metallurgy, aluminum alloy solidification basics and basic metallographic knowledge to interpret alloy phases and conditions.
  • Origination and maintenance of technique cards.
  • Document work procedures and processes.
  • Lead and implement root cause and corrective action. 
  • Use problem solving tools and techniques to reduce and or eliminate related scrap issues.
  • Good written communication skills are required to develop and maintain technique cards,  internal job instructions and document work procedures and processes.
  • Work closely with other departments to ensure organization objectives are achieved.
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a professional manner.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
  • BS in Engineering, Material Science or Metallurgy  
  • 5+ years of casting experience
  • Process Development/Gating
  • Good working knowledge of Aluminum Alloys, CAD and Blue print reading
  • Strong communication skills, PC skills and program management skills.
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing Principles.
  • Communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and documentation skills.
  • Proven success in process improvements
