CPP-Syracuse is a manufacturer of premium investment castings for the Air Craft and Industrial Gas Turbine industry and has been in business for over 70 years. We have over 275 employees currently working in our Chittenango, NY facility.

We are currently looking for an experienced individual for our Non-Destructive Testing(NDT)/Quality department.  The current FPI {Fluorescent Penetrant Inspection} Reader position is available on our 1st Shift Monday - Thursday.

FPI (Level 2/Reader)  –   In this position the successful candidate will be responsible for the duties relating to the interpretation of penetrant indications.  These duties include the interpretation of product through the penetrant operation.   The successful candidate will have to set up and verify equipment such as the FPI processing line, PSM-5 panels, blacklights, etc.    The successful candidate will also  have to conduct tests, interpret, evaluate and document data in accordance with codes, standards and other contractual documents.  Be able to Identify and implement improvement opportunities through the use of tools such as Systematic Problem Solving, Process Management, Value Stream Mapping, etc. and to be responsible for the adherence to all safety policies, practices and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Experience: 32 hours of documented formal training in Penetrant Inspection.  270 hours of on-the–job training.
  • Certifications/Licenses:  Penetrant Level 2 Certification
  • Other Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: LANGUAGE SKILLS - Ability to read, understand and comprehend documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, workstation documents and Internal Method Sheets (IMS). Ability to write routine reports. Ability to speak effectively and interact with other team members, engineers and leadership.  MATHEMATICAL SKILLS - Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to calculate figures such as proportions, percentages, and volume.  REASONING ABILITY - Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardized exists.
