POSITION SUMMARY
Assist in coordinating, building and maintaining a safety culture to eliminate injuries, improve safety performance and awareness.  Demonstrates leadership in safety and health and serves in a consulting function—providing application of knowledge, experience and analytical skills. 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Performs Safety Systems Audits
  • Stays up to date on regulatory and company compliance        
  • Training on (forklift, etc.), DOT (alcohol, drug recognition, etc.), fall protection, and other key company policies
  • Assists with OSHA, DOT,  and internal inspections
  • Observe and reinforce safe work practices; implement steps to reduce at risk work practices                             
  • Champion safety-related communications with such things as target safety meetings, operations meeting, and ad hoc                              
  • Monitor and report on trends in violations, incidents, compliance, and work practices
  • Chairs safety committee meetings and highly involved with communication and follow up on Safety Tracker Data.
  • Incident management to include such things as follow-up on incident  investigations
  • Program process development (assist developing & updating ops and safety management)
  • Maintain Schedule of required inspections, drills, and other activities
  • Generate and maintain safety records related to areas of responsibility
  • Will be involved in supporting and/or leading the following areas:
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or GED
Degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene or related field preferred.

  • Must be able to communicate in a professional manner with employees
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office products to be able to communicate and provide reporting
Core skills also include the ability to:
  • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Speak effectively before groups.
  • Add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
