Job Summary

Will be highly efficient in setup and operation of x-ray machine and digital film processor. Read and Interpret images on film to determine conformance to specifications. Develops X-Ray techniques for a variety of part configurations. Performs equipment calibration Conducts tests, interprets, evaluates and documents NDT results and procedures.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/DUTIES
  • Set-up, shot and calibrate X-ray equipment. 
  • Conduct radiographic testing in accordance with an approved radiographic technique. 
  • Under the guidance of a Level II or III, may help formulate a tentative test technique prior to approval by Level III.
  • Familiarization with the scope and limitation of the X-ray unit in regards to the hardware inspected.
  • Interpret and carryout instructions in accordance with the company's radiographic techniques.
  • Develops and/or approves complex x-ray shooting sketches and techniques used by other x-ray personnel.
  • Completes all necessary records and develops logs and other records to assure compliance to specifications
  • Reports discrepancies to management/supervisor as required
  • Analyzes shots taken with the aid of a viewer, to accept or reject x-ray plates in accordance with standards set by Quality Control.
  • Review routers, procedures, specification, and other instructions for completeness and instructions to perform operation.
  • Process part(s) in accordance with procedures and technical instructions utilizing equipment and fixturing to evaluate for weld, braze and/or casting discontinuities exceeding requirements specified.
  • Work with X-ray generating equipment. Set-up, operate, calibrate and perform Process Control Checks on equipment by following established instructions and record results.
  • Develop techniques for approval, interpret, evaluate and report evaluation results as required and outlined. Clean, remove and re-cap part(s) after process and evaluation of part(s).
  • Acquire additional certifications and credentials as required for work or career development
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area
  • Comply with all safety, DOT, HAZMAT and environmental policies and procedures

  • Working Environment: Indoor working environment within various areas of a foundry facility
  • Required PPE: PEE varies throughout the plant, check with area Supervisor to ensure proper PPE is being used
  • Safety Glasses:  Needed in all areas of the plant
  • Steel toe shoes:  Needed in all areas of the plant
