Provide a brief description as to the primary purpose of this job (no more than three to five sentences):
Responsible for the company’s Material Review Board (MRB) process and for ensuring compliance to industry, customer and company MRB requirements.


  • Within the boundaries of the company’s Quality Management System (QMS) and authorized rework operations, use creative approaches and unique applications to address complex nonconforming conditions.
  • Inspect suspect castings to confirm or determine conformance, nonconformance, recode, rework, reinstate, etc.
  • Use authorized rework operations (either personally or by working with others) to reprocess nonconforming castings back to conformance by stoning, belting, pressing, bending, twisting etc. as appropriate and then re-inspect.
  • Record inspection and MRB results in appropriate forms/files/reports.
  • Personally complete and/or verify that all relevant paperwork has been completed correctly.
  • Ensure action owners analyze, conduct root cause analysis and develop dispositions for confirmed nonconformances.
  • Helps to assess and resolve product/process issues throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Prepare for, conduct and follow-up on actions for the Scrap Walk meeting.
  • Document, report and communicate status at the Scrap Walk meeting, periodically or upon request.
  • Generate MRB related reports for management, operations, engineers and others as appropriate.
  • Identify and implement improvement opportunities for the company’s MRB process.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Adhere to and enforce proper safety/security procedures and protocol.


  • Education: High School Diploma (Associates Degree or equivalent from a college or technical school preferred)
  • Experience: 6 to 12 months related experience or training.
  • Certifications/Licenses: None
  • Other Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Skilled in use of Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, PEI’s and Work Instructions. Ability to read and interpret technical blueprints/geometric tolerance nomenclature. Ability to work with and comprehend mathematical concepts including geometry and trigonometry. Understanding the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision making. Ability to be thorough in accomplishing a task with concern for all the areas involved, no matter how small. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively communicate technical information to others in a comprehensible manner. Ability to use various tools, equipment and devices to reprocess nonconforming parts back to conformance and then re-inspect to ensure/confirm conformance.
  • Other Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: General knowledge of the casting process. Knowledge of basic airfoil and gage design, intent, and function.
