Wastewater Technician II
Primary Purpose: The purpose of this position is to operate, maintain, monitor, and adjust wastewater treatment operations. Prior experience is required.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Operate Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) system
  • Operate Acid Waste Neutralization (AWN) system.
  • Perform jar testing to optimize the wastewater treatment.
  • General troubleshooting for ZLD.
  • Operate Acid Recovery system.
  • Move hazardous materials from Shipping and Receiving to storage areas.
  • Must become HazWoper certified and remain an active member of the Emergency Response Team (ERT).
  • Perform special projects to improve system performance.
  • Support training of new employees.
  • Perform and document weekly inspections of 90 day and satellite hazardous waste accumulation areas, as well as several hazardous materials storage areas throughout the plant including tanks, totes, drums, and containers (with proper training and certification).
  • Perform storm water sampling and inspections, and report noncompliance issues and assist with corrective actions.
  • Perform monthly ground water sampling.
  • Perform drinking water sampling.
  • Perform other environmental duties as requested

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent GED.
  • 1-5 years’ experience in an industrial waste treatment plant preferred.
  • Knowledge and understanding of equipment and tools associated with a maintenance department.
  • Able to stay on task, prioritize, and work as a team member.
  • Good reasoning and problem-solving abilities.
  • Able to quickly adapt to changing circumstances and environments.
  • Motivated self-starter for day-to-day duties.
  • Must be able to initiate projects on their own.
  • Able to lift to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Must be able to manipulate material handling devices such as forklifts, drum trucks/dollies, pallet jacks, and hoists.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age. 
  • Must be willing to undergo a pre-employment background check.
  • Must be willing to participate in pre-employment and periodic drug screening.
  • Must be able to wear a respirator.
