Consolidated Precision Products (CPP) has an immediate need for a Purchasing Agent for Wollaston Alloys Inc. in Braintree, MA, to join our team. Wollaston Alloys is a stainless steel and high alloy sand casting foundry that manufactures castings for the military and power generation industries.

The Purchasing Agent is responsible for the timely purchase of supplies, parts and other materials as requisitioned to support production, maintenance, capital improvements and safety. 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Purchasing tools, parts, and other supplies from established vendors.
  • Locating, evaluating, and selecting new vendors with input from Production Supervisors, Maintenance employees, or Department Supervisors.  Meet with vendors of new products to determine cost savings.
  • Determining and maintaining an adequate inventory level of consumable materials to support plant operations.
  • Following up on back orders to ensure parts will be received on the required date.  Coordinates timely returns of unusable parts.
  • Ability to locate emergency supplies and spares.  Researches and cross references spare parts and supplies from different sources to maintain adequate inventory level.
  • Locating and developing new sources of supplies where feasible.  Negotiate prices to achieve the lowest possible total cost. 
  • Overseeing and performing when necessary physical inventories, cycle counts and incoming verification.  Tracks down discrepancies between physical count and computer data and takes corrective action.
  • Responsible for ongoing professional verbal and written communication with vendors to follow-up on the status of purchase orders and the timely communication to the Maintenance Manager, Operations Manager or Production Manager regarding any delays, problems, or cost changes.

Qualifications for the position:
  • Education: Associate Degree
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years on-the-job experience in industrial purchasing environment or a 4-year degree.
  • Certifications/Licenses: N/A
  • Other Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, negotiation skills, Ability to multi task.
