JOB DESCRIPTION: Manufacturing IT Systems Specialist

Poly6 uses process intelligent materials to advance system efficiency and engineering design capabilities in scaled manufacturing. Poly6’s initial market focus includes turbine engines, a market in which Poly6’s products, enabled by additive manufacturing, automate current component manufacturing processes and give rise to next generation engine design. This individual will lead the implementation, operation, and maintenance of digital manufacturing automation systems onsite (e.g. process control systems, SCADA systems, manufacturing execution systems, data historians). This includes supporting the configuration, administration, and maintenance of these systems. The Manufacturing IT Systems Specialist will collaborate with peers across departments and/or cross-functional teams to ensure completion of projects and will act as a digital liaison between the site and corporate and enterprise systems teams.

RESPONSIBILITIES
 
  • Administer and support automation systems, including deployment/enrollment at the site as well as implementing modifications to improve operational performance and product quality.
  • Lead automation activities throughout technology transfer into the manufacturing network and provide continued support throughout manufacturing campaigns.
  • Provide Subject Matter Expert support to Manufacturing, Technical Operations, and other departments for the design and operation of process automation services.
  • Coordinate with all stakeholders from Data and Quality teams to ensure the successful implementation and management of manufacturing/automation systems onsite.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously to keep projects on track and on time.
  • Own the accountability of 24/7/365 mission critical services and IT services in Manufacturing & Technical Operations realms.
  • Ensure instruments and machines are communicating with software and data is available in the system database.
  • Work closely with users on the appropriateness of the process control charts and evaluate the maturity of the charts and drive towards higher maturity level on a periodical basis. Example: assist/advise in setting up charts, make changes or update charts properties.
  • Maintain and update documents related to manufacturing systems software.
  • Educate users of the software tools and conduct training for SPC, SQM, MES, and other related modules.
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to build Poly6 data collection & architecture strategy and oversee execution for said strategy.

QUALIFICATIONS
 
  • B.S. degree in an Engineering discipline. Preferred area of study:  Electrical, Computer Science or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Tactical knowledge of digital automation with 10 years’ experience with Distributed Control System (DCS) and Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) configuration, field instrumentation installation and troubleshooting, as well as process control experience.
  • 5+ years’ experience with MES (Manufacturing Execution System) integration.
  • Experience with relational databases and concepts (MS SQL Server, Oracle, etc.), ERP, Shop Floor Control.
  • Hands-on experience with IT change management across domains (security, software, network, hardware, etc.).
  • Fluid collaboration skills across business, IT, and external vendors/suppliers.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
 
  • 3-5 years of project management and coordination experience associated with the execution of capital projects in an industrial environment.
  • Experience programming Allen Bradley PLCs using RSLogix software for sensor interfacing.
  • Experience with Ignition and Python programming
  • Fluency in supporting the digitization of manufacturing & engineering business process by bringing IT know-how to business partners in manufacturing and engineering operations.
  • Developing / supporting IT environments and understanding network, server, and database architectures.
  • Experience working within cloud environments, preferably GovCloud and Microsoft Azure, and ownership of key approaches to security and change management/deployment.
  • Builder mentality that seeks to produce innovation, agility, and velocity to support business-as-usual operations and new project implementation.
