JOB DESCRIPTION: Manufacturing Supervisor

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Manufacturing Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day supervision of the production team in the following areas: Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness and Cost.  In addition, the Manufacturing Supervisor leads and coaches the team, empowering production personnel to make informed and appropriate decisions guided by policies, procedures, and business plan to successfully meet performance targets.  It is the responsibility of the Manufacturing Supervisor to identify and resolve day to day technical and operational problems using tack and diplomacy in the exchange of information.

RESPONSIBILITIES
 
  • Manage throughput, efficiency and productivity to meet customer deliveries and maintain internal schedules
  • Maintain all transactions of WIP in ERP and Kanban inventories
  • Manage team and materials to meet production targets while ensuring receipt of materials and supplies
  • Provide day-to-day supervision of production team including the coordination of activities and measuring/communicating performance versus plan
  • Interface with cross-functional team members to troubleshoot issues and ensure emphasis on quality
  • Supervise technicians in core manufacturing processes in alignment with AS9100 requirements
  • Lead a zero-injury culture through continuous improvement and employee engagement
  • Recommend or implement measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, product quality, efficiency and to motivate employees.
  • Plan and establish work schedules, assignments, and production sequences to meet production targets
  • Keep records of employee’s attendance and hours worked, approving timecards
  • Perform production tasks as needed to hit target goals
  • Apply Lean Manufacturing and/or continuous improvement methods to production processes
  • Perform all other duties assigned by manager

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with ERP system required. Experience with Oracle preferred
  • Experience coaching team members to encourage individual problem-solving
  • Convey concise written and verbal communication
  • Lead teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Experience with hazardous materials and quality inspection preferred
  • Experience Managing team and individual performance and providing effective feedback
  • Minimum of 1 year experience as a lead or supervisor in a production environment required
  • Written and spoken fluency in English required

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to stand for long periods
  • Use of hands to handle, feel and reach
  • Ability to handle, adjust and transport fragile manufactured parts
  • Regular movement across a ~12,000 sf production floor
  • Ability to lift 50lbs with 2 hands
  • Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, traverse stairs and be on ladders
  • Demonstration of good sight and hearing
