Waste Water Treatment Supervisor - Day Shift

Primary Purpose:
Under the general guidance of the Facilities Manager, the Waste Water Treatment Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day leadership of the wastewater treatment team in the following areas: Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness, and Cost. The Waste Water Treatment Supervisor leads and coaches a team, empowering support personnel to make informed and appropriate decisions guided by policies, procedures, and a business plan, and successfully reclaiming, treating, and supplying the plant with clean water when production is in operation.  The Waste Water Treatment Supervisor identifies and resolves day-to-day technical and operational problems, using tactfulness and diplomacy in the exchange of information. The Waste Water Treatment Supervisor supports the team by being involved in daily operations of the treatment systems.

 Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Lead a zero-injury culture through continuous improvement and employee engagement.
  • Maintain daily contacts and teamwork to foster trust, and ultimately, a larger group of active problem-solvers equipped to treat wastewater coming in and provide the plant with clean water.
  • Support life-threat programs and determine opportunities for improvement.
  • Demonstrate through continuous improvement of safety procedures, results that benefit all other areas of the business.
  • Initiate and coordinate the hiring, disciplinary actions, and termination process within the area of responsibility.
  • Provide leadership, feedback, performance reviews, wage adjustments, personnel assignments, training program management, and coaching to support team and individuals within direct reporting structure.
  • Provide day-to-day supervision to a team including the coordination of activities and measuring/communicating performance versus plan.
  • Resolve problems by identifying and selecting solutions and applying technical experience and precedents.
  • Collaboratively problem-solve with other functional groups including, but not limited to, Chem Mill, Invest, Wax, and Maintenance.
  • Lead specific projects with cross-functional teams to accomplish improvements.
  • Contribute to the development of improved metrics for tracking individual and team achievement of objectives.
  • Responsible for cost-effective optimization of equipment and labor through planning and appropriate scheduling of resources, team members, and production schedules to meet water treatment and supply needs for the plant.
  • Supervisors are responsible for setting schedules and reviewing/ approving employee timecards.
  • Work with external vendors to maintain integrity and accuracy of chemical inventory.
  • Work with other work centers and service center departments to achieve water production and water quality goals.
Minimum Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience:
  • Lean and/or continuous improvement knowledge required.
  • Proficient computer skills and experience with applications such as Microsoft Suite.
  • Managing team and individual performance and providing effective feedback.
  • Coaching team members to encourage individual problem-solving.
  • Convey concise written and verbal communication.
  • Demonstrated success achieving water production goals in a safe and quality-focused manner.
  • Detailed knowledge of Reverse Osmosis (RO), Acid Neutralization, and Zero Liquid Discharge systems and equipment.
  • Working knowledge of flocculation and neutralization process through familiarity with polymers, pH adjustment, settling tanks, and filter presses.
  • Experience with managing Hazardous Waste and Solid Waste.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience as a lead or supervisor in a production environment (preferred).
  • Must be at least 18 years of age. 
  • Must be willing to undergo a pre-employment background check.
  • Must be willing to participate in pre-employment and periodic drug screening.
