JOB SUMMARY

The location EHS Manager holds a site staff leadership role for environmental health and safety programs with site responsibility.  This position is accountable for directing and maintaining an environmentally healthy, safe, and productive workplace through the education and training of employees at all levels of the site organization.  Administration of corporate and site environmental health & safety policies for compliance with health, safety, and environmental state & federal regulations is essential.

Effectively engages internal stakeholders (Operations Leaders, Directors, Managers, legal, technical operations, IT, etc.) and external stakeholders (regulatory agencies, industry groups, etc.) as necessary. 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/DUTIES

  • Responsible for establishing and maintaining compliance with safety, health, and environmental regulations, ensuring CPP Boston is in compliance with state, federal, and county government regulations
  • Responsible for continuously improving environmental, occupational health, and safety performance to world-class standard while driving compliance to applicable regulatory standards.
  • Facilitate standardization and redundancies anywhere possible for occupational health, safety, and environmental programs.
  • This position is responsible for managing, directing, coordinating, monitoring, and driving the implementation of environmental, health, and safety programs, management systems, and project management as needed while providing site leadership, support, and assistance to business operations.
  • Key areas of responsibility within EHS are Risk management and mitigation, metrics, reporting, local EHS governance, annual strategic planning, and document control related to EHS policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Investigates accidents, incidents, and medical problems, per local and corporate procedures.  Initiate and drive corrective actions & preventative actions to closure to prevent further illness or injury.
  • Perform routine inspections of the location for hazardous conditions, also including monthly fire suppression equipment inspections.
  • Manage environmental permits and required programs, partnering with the Facilities & Maintenance team and potentially outside environmental consultants.
  • Manage the site EHS committee to be effective.  This includes agenda with action items and driving identified items to closure.
  • Work on/participate in special projects as needed or assigned by Management
  •     Complete weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual metrics reporting as required locally and by CPP. Corporate. This includes developing a system locally to trend recordable, significant near misses, and significant first aid incidents.
  •     Best Management Practice/ EHS Victories/ EHS Win presentations are occasionally required of this position via the Global CPP EHS/ Operations & HR team conference call. 
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area
  • Attendance is critical, and one must be able to work at the Boston facility.

QUALIFICATIONS

List the minimum requirements to be considered for this position:
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent & bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field required
  • Experience: Minimum 5+ years of safety management and three (3) years of environmental management.
  • Certifications/Licenses: None
  • Other Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Attention to detail, excellent interpersonal skills, effectively communicate with all levels of the organization, Knowledge of statistics, data collection, and analysis, Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), ability to work with others through complex situations, strong motivation to produce quality work products on budget and on time, comfortable working with external agencies, contractors, and consultants.

WORKING CONDITIONS

List working conditions for this position:
  • Working Environment:   Indoor working environment within various areas of a foundry facility/Office environment
  • Physical Demands:    Sitting/standing, using a computer screen, keyboard, and mouse for extended periods of time, ability to lift up to 20lbs, walking
  • Travel Requirements: Varies from 5-10%
  • Required PPE:     PPE varies throughout the plant; check with the area Supervisor to ensure proper PPE is being used
  • Safety Glasses:    Needed in all areas of the plant
  • Steel toe shoes:  Needed in all areas of the plant
