Secluded on nearly 10 acres on Waller Creek, the Commodore Perry Estate comprises a 10,800-square-foot home, a chapel and gardens enclosed within a walled compound in the style of an Italian country villa and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.  Now refreshed and refurbished as a luxury 54 room resort, the property will open in mid-2020.

Role Summary
Become one of the authors of our story.  Join our team as Engineer at the Commodore Perry Estate in Austin, Texas. All technical and non-technical buildings and grounds repairs. Troubleshooting and/or repairs of all electrically ran motors and devices.  Troubleshooting and/or repair of all H.V.A.C systems including, refrigeration devices, minor carpentry, plumbing, painting, and minor automotive repairs. Completion of all assigned tasks in a safe and timely manner.  Maintaining a safe and clean working environment. Requirements are representative of minimum levels of knowledge, skills and/or abilities. To perform this job successfully, the incumbent will possess the abilities or aptitudes to perform each duty proficiently.


Core Responsibilities
Please note that this is not an exhaustive list of everything that needs to be done!  Within the Auberge family, our people always find new ways to look after the business, their guests, and their team-mates.   Within this, the key responsibilities for this position are:
  • Use the Lockout/Tagout system before performing any maintenance work.
  • Carry all equipment (e.g., keys, phones, pager, tools, radio) in order to maintain preparedness to carry out work tasks at all times. 
  • Ensure that all flammable materials are stored in OSHA and EPA approved containment devices. 
  • Respond and attend to guest repair requests. 
  • Perform preventative maintenance on tools and equipment, including cleaning and lubrication. 
  • Report any serious maintenance problems, unusual findings, or safety hazards immediately to the manager/supervisor.
  • Identify, locate, and operate all shut-off valves for equipment. 
  • Maintain proper maintenance inventory and requisition parts and supplies as needed.
  • Record information for unfinished calls into a “pass-on logbook” prior to a shift change.  
  • Follow company and department safety and security policies and procedures to ensure a clean, safe, and secure environment. 
  • Use proper equipment, wear appropriate personal protective clothing (PPE), and employ correct lifting procedures, as necessary, to avoid injury. 
  • Welcome and acknowledge each and every guest with a smile, eye contact, and a friendly verbal greeting, using the guest's name when possible. 
  • Anticipate guests' service needs, including asking questions of guests to better understand their needs and watching/listening to guest preferences and acting on them whenever possible. 
  • Handle sensitive issues with team members and/or guests with tact, respect, diplomacy, and confidentiality. 

Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of two years experience in related field with experience in electrical motors, H.V.A.C. systems, and refrigeration systems. 
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Must be familiar with troubleshooting and/or repairs of such.
  • Experience with power tools usage and safety.
  • Apprenticeship as an electrician or H.V.A.C. technician.
  • Previous hotel experience preferred.
