Dr. Day Care Learning Center provides care for children ages 6 weeks through 12 years old in our Infant, Toddler, Preschool and School Age programs.  We offer quality care and education 52 weeks of the year - we are the Home of the Educational Guarantee!

This position is providing transportation for elementary school children to and from public school to our program. The vehicle is a 12-passenger van/mini-bus.  Chauffeur's license needed and we will pay for you to get it! 

The Teacher Assistant will be required to perform the following duties including, but not limited to,:
  • Assist in the creation of a safe, healthy, structured and nurturing environment
  • Help plan and implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum and assessment of children
  • Help to supervise and interact with children to facilitate their play and learning
  • Communicate positively with parents
  • Support the implementation of the Therapeutic Child Care Services (TCCS) program
  • Help prepare activities
  • Serve meals to the children
  • Help to keep the classroom clean, organized and maintained
  • Drive company van/mini-bus to and from schools and/or field trips
  • Monitors the behavior of all children including proper sitting, entering and exiting of the van
  • Uses proper protocol as necessary when an emergency situation arises notifying the proper authorities including the Administrators and/or Home Office
  • Operates van/mini-bus safely at all times in accordance with posted speed limits, parking restrictions, passing zones and all other traffic and driving laws
  • Assumes responsibility for ratio and head counts, school locations and children
  • Checks the condition of vehicle tires, brakes, windshield wipers, lights, oil, fuel, water and safety equipment to ensure that everything is in working order
  • Assumes responsibility for ensuring that all children board and exit the van safely
  • Attend meetings and trainings
  • Assist with the accreditation process as well as other quality initiatives
  • Other duties may be assigned as necessary

Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to,:
  • Assist in the creation of a safe, healthy, structured and nurturing environment
  • Help plan and implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum
  • Help to supervise and interact with children to facilitate their play and learning
  • Communicate feedback, concerns and questions to the Lead Teacher or Administrator for parent feedback
  • Support the implementation of the Therapeutic Child Care Services  (TCCS) program
  • Help prepare activities
  • Serve meals to the children
  • Maintain classroom cleanliness and organization
  • Attend child specific orientation meetings and monthly Therapeutic Integration Specialist (TIS) trainings
  • Assist with the accreditation process as well as other quality initiatives
  • Promote interactions between typically developing children and TCCS children and support the children in participating successfully in activities
  • Document children’s progress, behaviors and medical status related to the children’s Therapeutic Integration Plans (TIPs) in partnership with the classroom teacher/Administrator and Clinician
  • Assist in the development and implementation of the TIPs
  • Other duties may be assigned as necessary

Education Requirements:
  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent
  • Must participate in early childhood staff development program
  • CPR/First Aid certification preferred

Experience Requirements:
  • Minimum one (1) year experience working with children in a supervised school age setting
  • Strong communication skills
  • Positive team player

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to be engaged in physical exercise with children such as walking, running, crawling, bending, twisting, etc. 
  • Must have visual and hearing acuity
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds

Other Requirements:
  • Minimum 21 years of age
  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English fluently
  • Must possess a valid chauffer’s license and meet insurance required parameter for safe driving or obtain a chauffer's license prior to working.
  • Must pass national criminal background/fingerprints check
  • Must pass Department of Children, Youth and Families (DCYF) Clearance Request (CPS)
  • Available to work between the hours of  7:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m., Monday – Friday, according to the needs of the business
