St. Jude School, a vibrant faith community of over 200 students in the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend, is seeking an assistant school principal beginning with the 2023-2024 academic year. Our school enrolls children in grades PK-8. We have a strong special education program and recently established the Bessette Scholars program for students who require modifications to their curriculum and need more support form our community. We are a growing school and seek a joyful, faith-filled, innovative, leader with an unwavering commitment to providing a Catholic education of the highest quality, ensuring that St. Jude students are on the path to higher education and to heaven.

The successful candidate will work closely with the principal to form engaging relationships with students, parents, faculty and staff, and other stakeholders with the ultimate goal of helping each child build the foundation for a life centered on a love of learning, a desire to serve others, and a commitment to Gospel values.
The new assistant  principal at St. Jude School will focus on achieving comprehensive excellence in three key areas: 

1. Catholic Identity and Formation: 
Working to ensure that the Catholic identity of the school emanates throughout the curricular, extracurricular, and relational dimensions of the school. 

Key performance areas include:

• Foster trust, care, rapport between student and teachers
 • Integration of the faith and moral formation in curricular and extracurricular endeavors
 • Sense of belonging and community among family, students, teachers, and staff 
• Approaches to and efficacy of student behavior management and discipline 
• Service to our neighbors, particularly those most in need
• Building relationships between the school and parish 

2. Academic Excellence:
Reflecting our belief that each person is created in the image and likeness of God, which is manifest in our human capacity for reason, we believe that the full cultivation of the gifts of each child towards knowledge and wisdom are at the core of our mission as a Catholic school.

 

Key performance areas include:

 • Help in the recruitment, selection, development, and retention of exceptional and mission-focused faculty and staff 

• Academic rigor and instructional excellence 

• Curriculum strength and alignment 

• Student academic engagement and interest 

• Meeting the needs of all learners (differentiation of instruction, resource support, enrichment)

 • Communication to parents/guardians about the learning progress 

 

3. Operational Vitality: 

Working closely with the core executive management functions of a vibrant Catholic school, seeking to responsibly use the gifts that God has given us to advance the mission of St. Jude. 

Key performance areas include:

 • School financial health

 • Institutional advancement

 • Enrollment management (recruitment to retention)

 • Marketing and communications

The successful candidate must be a practicing Roman Catholic, have a minimum of five years of teaching experience, and hold or be eligible for an Indiana Elementary Administrative License.
