Job description:
Title: Technical Project Manager
The Technical Project Manager is responsible for the successful implementation of Point of Sale (POS) systems within the Petroleum and Convenience Retail (PCR) group,, while ensuring client satisfaction, project budget, and quality management.
Position Summary & Key Areas of Responsibility
  • Ultimate responsibility for the agile release train
  • Strong ability to manage multiple high visibility project teams across various phases of the project lifecycle
  • Creative negotiation and conflict management skills
  • Experience with Agile and SCRUM master role
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Cross-functional team management (SW Development, QA, Consulting, SW Support, HW Support, Training, Manufacturing)
  • Offshore development/QA team management (experience preferred but not required)
  • SDLC experience
  • Deliver projects on time, on budget, on scope with high quality.
  • Development and execution of the project plan and all related tasks.
  • Responsible for project resource procurement
  • Conducts project kick-off, closures and post mortems
  • Internal and external status meetings and reporting (tracking timeline, cost, scope)
  • Issue and escalation management
  • Formal risk assessments (internal and external) and mitigations
  • Change management
  • Management of pilot installs and overall system rollout
  • Manage transition process of site support from project team to the maintenance team
  • The work environment is typically implementation of the POS solution in a convenience store
  • Overnight travel is required. Could be up to 10-20%
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s preferred and applicable experience
  • Experience with Agile/SCRUM
  • Technology implementation experience
  • Microsoft project experience
  • 7+ years of project management experience
  • Extensive computer knowledge and experience
  • Excellent verbal communication
  • Excellent Customer service skills
  • Excellent Team building skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • International experience a plus
  • Retail business and/or retail technology experience a plus
  • RTE and PMP certification preferred but not required
