Job description:

ROLE OVERVIEW
To develop, direct, and coordinate electrical engineering projects for Client.  Projects assigned to this position are of varied complexity and cost.
WHAT YOU GET TO DO
  • Investigates, develops, and implements projects and practices to improve plant safety, quality, productivity, and waste.  Determines customer’s needs by identifying problems and safety concerns. Develops and evaluates solutions including cost estimates.
  • Manages project costs and scheduling, and communicates pertinent data to appropriate areas for engineering projects which may vary in terms of scope and responsibilities.
  • Establishes and promotes high performance work teams throughout the organization in accordance with World Class Operations Management initiatives.
  • Develops, prepares, and/or assembles the engineering package/project documentation for each assigned project.  This includes designs, calculations, layouts, schematics, manuals, etc.
  • Provides the purchasing services for project materials required.  This includes reviewing potential vendors, contacting vendors, coordinating with the Purchasing Department, issuing purchase orders, and expediting delivery.
  • Completes New and Altered Equipment Reviews and Project Closeouts for appropriate projects.
  • Coordinates or assists with installation, checkout, start-up, and training using in-house resources, contractors, and vendors, as appropriate.
  • Secures and maintains knowledge of current industry practices as they may apply to client products and equipment.
  • Provides electrical technical support to other project engineers, teams, and the maintenance group as necessary. 
  • Maintains accurate records of both miscellaneous and capital project improvements. 
  • Promotes a system of open, honest communication with employees for ensuring project or process improvement success.
  • Uses logical troubleshooting skills to diagnose problems and generate solutions.
  • Coordinates high voltage electrical maintenance.
WHAT WE VALUE
  • Good project management, problem solving, troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to use a personal computer and office suite software.  CAD skills are a plus.
  • Knowledge of plant power distribution, controls systems, and PLC's.
  • Ability to use measuring devices, read mechanical/electrical drawings, develop and use charts and schedules.
  • Ability to be a self-starter and take action on projects proactively.
  • Good communication skills both oral and written.  Ability to interact with plant personnel ranging from management to equipment operators.
  • Ability to coordinate and manage the work of outside contractors.
  • Must have valid driver's license (for emergency situations). 
WHAT WE WANT FROM YOU
  • Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering required
  • Five + years’ experience in an industrial environment
  • Seminars or course-work in related areas
What are the 3-4 non-negotiable requirements on this position?
  1. 5+ years in manufacturing environment minimum
  2. Strong technical skill set (PLC, HMI and Controls experience)
  3. Good communicator: can talk to individuals at all levels
What are the nice-to-have skills?
1. Leadership experience (1 - 2 direct reports) 2. Experience in packaging industry 3. Systems experience (SAP, AutoCAD, Solidworks)
