Your role and impact:
As the Cloud Data Architect, you will lead the architecture and build-out of our data analytics platform components using cloud technologies, working closely with Quant and Data engineers to develop an industry leading platform that is used for quantitative research as well as in production system to drive daily investment processes. We are involved in the full lifecycle of the Alpha Gen and Data platform including design, architecture, development, implementation, tuning, production support and maintenance
Your responsibilities:
You will be building a cutting-edge, high quality data analytics platform on cloud! It involves:
  • Architect and lead the build-out of platform on Azure & migration from on-prem systems.
  • Understand the existing on-prem technology landscape & implementations and recommend the best strategy & solutions to deliver on cloud.
  • Design and build large scale data storage, compute and distribution systems
  • Evaluate, select, and implement new tools and frameworks to expand our platform capabilities.
  • Provide data engineers, quant engineers and researchers with technical advice and guidance on the best data practices on cloud
  • Build relationships and partner with core architecture & engineering teams across Client
  • Mentor and upskill fellow team members
  • Work across time zones in a distributed team
  • Keep up to date with developments in the industry and use that to drive prototyping new platform capabilities
  • Communicate with high impact to share project status
You have:
  • A solid understanding of cloud data platforms/services such as Snowflake, Azure Synapse, Informatica IICS, Databricks etc.
  • Expert knowledge of data modelling and understanding of different data stores and their benefits and limitations under particular use cases.
  • Proficiency in SQL and Python. Knowledge of Java, Scala and distributed technologies such as Spark, Kubernetes is a plus.
  • Desire to build deep expertise in cloud native technologies and design of applications that are deployed to cloud infrastructure.
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Project and people management required
  • A genuine curiosity and appetite to learn equities, fixed income, derivatives, hedge funds or investment risk
What are the 3-4 non-negotiable requirements of this position?
