The Institute for Family Development (IFD) is recognized as a leader in providing services designed to keep children and youth safe, strengthen families, and reduce the need for placing youth into state-funded care. Founded in 1982, we are one of the largest providers of evidence-based services to youth and families involved in the child welfare and juvenile justice systems in Washington State.
We are looking for a full-time therapist / counselor with a passion for making a difference in the lives of families to join our team providing home-based family services. This position will begin in early October 2017. Therapist will primarily provide Functional Family Therapy (FFT) in addition to other in-home services.  FFT is a nationally recognized, evidence-based program for at-risk youth ages 11 -18 and their families (https://www.fftllc.com).  FFT is a strength-based model with a focus on assessment and intervention to address risk and protective factors. FFT caseloads are small, providing the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of at-risk youth and their families.
Extensive Training and Support
  • Nine days of workshop training in the FFT model in the first year.  Initial FFT training will be held in New London, CT, on October 11-13.  Please only apply for this position if you are able to attend all the days of the initial training. Follow-up trainings throughout the year will be held in Washington State.  Expenses for flight, hotel and per diem are covered.
  • Weekly team consultation to access support, skills and assistance
  • Approved supervision hours available depending on license being sought
  • Ongoing quality enhancement activities to support model fidelity and clinical practice

Competitive Compensation:
  • Master's degree salary range $41,200 to $46,350 DOE
  • Bachelor's degree salary range $36,460 to $41,000 DOE
  • Possible add-on for employees proficient in an approved second language
  • Mileage compensation
  • $50 monthly cell phone allowance

Minimum Requirements:
  • A graduate degree in human services (social work, psychology, counseling) or related field and at least one year (pre or post MA) of experience working with children, youth or families; or an undergraduate degree in human services or related field and at least two years of related experience.
  • Applicant must demonstrate an ability to work with diverse individuals, exercise discretion, maintain client confidentiality, and communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Ability and interest in working a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
  • Applicant must have a valid driver’s license, a vehicle in good working condition, and automobile liability insurance.
  • Satisfactory completion of a criminal history background check including no history of DUI violations.
  • Current Washington State counselor credential (license, associate, or agency affiliated counselor).
  • Applicant must be 21 years of age and live in the designated service area (King County).
