Compensation: $26-28/hour (based on experience), part-time position, 24 hours/week, employer-paid medical, dental, and vision benefits; retirement match; prorated holiday pay, and state-mandated sick leave accrual.

Position Overview
The Communications Coordinator will increase awareness of and funding for Family Connections Centers through communications and development projects. They will support the creation and maintenance of outreach and marketing campaigns, develop content for social media and newsletters, design print collateral to engage participants and volunteers, and analyze engagement data to adapt strategies and maintain a strong brand presence. The Communications Coordinator will deepen partnerships with program participants, community organizations, donors, staff, and volunteers. Our ideal candidate is passionate about FCC’s community-based work and can celebrate our organization through strong, effective written communications and designed materials.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Follow the annual communications calendar to ensure that education, events, news, and program updates are optimally shared, utilizing data to evaluate strategies and improve effectiveness
  • Write persuasive and compelling copy for newsletters, press releases, funding proposals, and other development/communication materials
  • Design fresh and engaging content for flyers, digital and print materials, social media platforms, and external communications, in collaboration with program/administrative staff
  • Maintain/update website content; strategize ways to improve user experience and clarity of information
  • Manage social media communications, develop campaigns and strategies to engage our audience, and grow our reach and number of followers on all platforms
  • Develop and utilize targeted marketing strategies to reach new community members, cultivate donors, recruit staff and volunteers, promote programs and enrollment, and communicate FCC opportunities
  • Work with program staff to collect workshop and program calendar information, order/supervise translations, and finalize content in English, Spanish, Vietnamese, and Chinese
  • Support growth of local media partnerships to connect FCC with new audiences and expand programs
  • Visit and photograph programs; staff occasional in-person outreach, fundraising, and other community events, with the ability to communicate organizational goals to the public

Qualifications
  • Excellent writing and composition skills, excellent grammar and editing abilities, strong attention to detail, and ability to convey complex messages and impact through strong/persuasive written communications
  • Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work collaboratively with others in a team environment and outward facing to partners and participants
  • Critical thinking, flexibility, resourcefulness, and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with a high level of detail, while staying on track for individual project requirements and deadlines
  • 2+ years’ experience in writing/editing grant applications, copyediting, or digital and written communications required
  • Ability to work with a culturally diverse population and a variety of stakeholders and audiences
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Design Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, and/or Illustrator) required
  • Experience with Constant Contact, social media communications, and WordPress preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree required

Work Environment
This job operates in a hybrid work environment, with remote work and mandatory on-site hours (scheduled weekdays, Monday-Friday) to visit programs and support community events. This role routinely uses standard computers and phones to perform work duties.

Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This job requires extended periods of time at a computer. The employee must lift and/or move items over 25 pounds on occasion. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
