Position Summary:
In accordance with Family Connections’ mission and standards, the Lead Family Support Coordinator works in partnership with the Family Support Director, Family Support Manager, parents/ caregivers, staff, and community agencies to build collaborative relationships and provide programs that support parents and their families.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Supervise 1-2 staff, as well as interns and volunteers providing coaching and evaluation
  • Model and facilitate healthy interactions/relationships in programs
  • Provide and facilitate family advocacy, case management, I&R
  • Implement family support programs in accordance with work plan and goals including parent workshops, community events, information and referral, and caregiver support group
  • Manage program calendar and lead the planning for workshops, support group, parenting series
  • Support with FA/CM consultations and team meetings, as well as team program training calendar
  • Lead outreach planning including conducting outreach at public and private organizations, community events and citywide events, as well as updating outreach area
  • Provide and facilitate family advocacy, case management, I&R, workshops
  • Conduct assessments that identify strengths and needs of individuals and families and implement these findings into individual service plans
  • Coordinate and Facilitate workshops and support groups, as needed
  • Facilitate surveys and evaluations of family support programs, and works with the Director to monitor progress for grant proposals and reports
  • Engage with parents/caregivers and community partners in an on-going, respectful manner
  • Work collaterally with onsite and offsite service providers to ensure comprehensive coordination of care for participants
  • Other duties as assigned by FCC Family Support Director

Qualifications / Requirements:
  • BA preferred; or additional relevant professional experience with AA Degree in Social Work, Human Services, Family Services, Counseling, or related field
  • 3+ years of experience working with children and family services
  • Bilingual Cantonese/English required
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Knowledge of early childhood education, family support models, and local resources
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and working knowledge of databases
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills including familiarity with Microsoft Office and working knowledge of databases
  • Able to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Able to handle multiple tasks, great problem-solving solving, mediation skills, and commitment to the Agency’s mission

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 25 pounds and on occasion may require lifting/carrying a child or object up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
