Where do you see yourself?
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the successful candidate will fill the full-time position of Operations Supervisor in Vancouver, BC.
The primary responsibility of the Operations Supervisor position is to supervise the daily activities of the Operations department in one or more buildings. The Operations Supervisor will ensure the efficient, effective and productive management of the physical plant facilities and operating staff at Vancouver Centre. We are looking for an exceptionally detailed and focused individual that is not only able to assume the scope of the position, but to also be an integral part of the Vancouver Centre II development project.
Among the responsibilities will be:
- People Leadership: Supervise and manage building staff, including scheduling and performance management. Ensure daily inspections of the mechanical and electrical service areas are completed amongst the team. Supervise the operation of the maintenance management system. Implement and supervise procedures for the maintenance, operation and repairs of the building and equipment.
- Budgeting and Reporting: Prepare departmental budgets and assist the Senior Property Manager and the Operations Manager in the preparation of annual operating budgets. Prepare monthly variance and activity reports and assist the Senior Property Manager in the preparation of monthly property reports.
- Capital Project Work: Assist the Senior Property Manager and the Operations Manager in completing capital projects on time and on budget. Oversee tenant improvement work and obtain proposals and pricing for work. Review all work permits daily to ensure awareness of all contractor work occurring in the building. Review and monitor building functions and provide direction to staff and trades. Be an active participant in possible redevelopment projects as needed.
- Health & Safety and Compliance: Maintain site specific WHMIS and health and safety programs. Daily review of all completed service requests to ensure proper delivery of services. Assist the Senior Property Manager in ensuring the property is compliant in respect to all RiskCheck programs. Ensure the building staff remain current and aware in regard to policies and procedures.
Your minimum of 5 years of industry experience in a senior role, together with your post-secondary education in Engineering, Building Sciences and/or Trades training, as well as your proven knowledge of commercial building operations makes you a valuable asset to our team. You have superior relationship building skills and the ability to interact professionally and confidently with various internal and external parties. Your strong leadership and communication skills coupled with your interpersonal skills in dealing with staff makes you a natural leader. You thrive in fast paced work environments and you have an eye for efficiency when it comes to decreasing repair costs and increasing energy management initiatives.
