Position Overview: Assist with the management of high-profile commercial office properties in Halifax. This role ensures that our buildings are presented and operated according to the highest possible standards by establishing and maintaining strong working relationships with tenants, staff, and contractors.



Service Provider and Contract Management

  • Track, review, negotiate and manage building service contracts to ensure agreed upon terms, including sustainability reporting requirements, are being met by service providers
  • Project manage designated tenant and landlord projects, as well as participate in management of capital projects
  • Oversee the management of contractor documentation required to perform work at the building

Financial Reporting and Budgeting

  • Assist with the preparation of monthly and quarterly financial reports
  • Assist with the development, submission and administration of the annual operating budget
  • Administer assigned elements of the annual operating budgets to ensure timelines noted in budgets for expenditure of funds is consistently met
  • Communicate with the Property Manager any respective operations and any unusual matters which might affect approved plans and budgets

Building Inspections and Tenant Services

  • Conduct building inspections and coordinate actions required as a result of those inspections in order to ensure the properties are maintained to the highest standards
  • Assist in overseeing Tenant Services and follow up on outstanding tenant work orders that require escalation for resolve
  • Assist in the preparation of tenant communications as it relates to building notifications
  • Respond to and resolve escalated tenant concerns
  • Assist with after-hours emergency response as needed to support on call Duty Operator
  • Complete and manage the on-going tenant sustainability reporting requirements


  • 5+ years of property management experience with administration and financial management responsibilities
  • Post secondary education required, University Degree preferred, ideally in Commerce, Business Administration or alternate appropriate field of study
  • A property management designation, or working towards a property management designation (RPA) preferred
  • Proven experience as a people manager, able to motivate and develop a team
  • Experience maintaining tenant relations and providing excellent customer service


  • Strong leadership, communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to use sound judgment and deal with ambiguous complex situations in a professional manner
  • Ability to multitask, thriving in a fast-paced environment while maintaining organization
  • Ability to remain current on building technology development
  • Ability to seek and develop process improvements that drive efficiencies
  • A passion and focus on environmental issues and ways to reduce carbon footprint
