In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to:

Join a leading Canadian real estate financial services company backed by The Canada Life Assurance Company. Advance your career by collaborating with all areas of the business through your involvement and leadership of the strategic financial planning and analysis functions, including long range planning, budgets, and forecasts. This role is a key member of the Corporate Finance team reporting to the Senior Director of Finance and will provide insight into financial performance to support business case development and decision making.

RESPONSIBILITIES

 
  • Provide in-depth financial, variance and trending analyses and value-added insights related to key profitability drivers and other financial and non-financial metrics.
  • Interpret results and articulate appropriate recommendations to ensure targets are achieved and profit maximized. 
  • Work with cross-functional leaders to prepare budget and forecast materials for review and approval by various stakeholder, including the parent company. 
  • Prepare presentations for various levels of the organisation relating to the strategic plan, budgets, forecasts and ongoing financial performance.
  • Work with Corporate Finance team to understand and report on actual performance compared to budget, forecast and strategic plan.
  • Work closely with the CFO and VP Finance on ad hoc analysis.
  • Provide financial and analytical support to various functions of the business including supporting analysis of strategic business initiatives.
  • Identify and help manage risks and opportunities relative to the budget / forecasts.
  • Leverage storytelling and technology to turn data into actionable insights.

To succeed in this role, you must have
 
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and customer service skills with the proven ability to work with all levels including Senior Management.
  • The ability to operate in a fast-paced environment with numerous competing priorities and reporting deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability in financial planning and analysis, reporting and analytics, and partnering with senior leaders.
  • Possess strong financial modeling capabilities.
  • Excellent writing and interpersonal skills, and a proven ability to “build the story” with financial data and results.
  • Demonstrated attention to details with a focus on organisation and accuracy.
  • Proven ability to work well under pressure and tight deadlines.

QUALIFICATIONS
 
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or equivalent.
  • Professional designation – CPA or CFA is required.
  • Minimum 10 years of related working experience showing progression.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Power BI. 
  • Experience with Yardi or similar ERP would be an asset.
