The Jewelry Specialist culls thru, test and identifies all the Jewelry we receive at Goodwill. Thru your proven knowledge of current trends, your background and sheer intuition, you will be responsible for identifying high value or high potential items from our donations channels that will translate to online sales.  

  • Execute all aspects of the authentication process by accurately identifying colored stones and diamonds using GIA evaluation techniques as well as testing procedures used to determine the precious metal purity
  • Set list prices for jewelry with direction and final approval from Supervisor
  • Research fair market value and market demand of branded jewelry and watches
  • Evaluate, authenticate and price a minimum of 50 pieces per day
  • Participate in the online listing process and contribute to exceeding sales goals
  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent work experience
  • GIA certification preferred
  • 1+ years of experience in merchandising and/or buying or degree/certification in Gems, Metals or General Jewelry Education
  • Photography background would be a plus
  • Must be able to lift up to 45+ lbs unassisted
  • Ability to stand on hard surfaces for an extended period
  • Extensive product knowledge in Jewelry/fashion category preferred
  • Ability to work weekends and holidays
  • Excellent in-person, phone, and electronic-based interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work cooperatively with diverse groups of individuals from a variety of educational, social and economic backgrounds
  • Must be highly collaborative and open to multiple perspectives
  • Proficiency with, and ability to conduct, intermediate tasks within Microsoft Office Suite applications and various cloud based office applications
  • Ability to utilize self-learning systems
  • Possess a professional demeanor, poise under pressure with strong attention to detail, and well-developed time management skills
