About this Position:
Green Powered Technology (GPTech) is preparing a response to a U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) opportunity focused on improving the efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and delivery of healthcare facility design and construction nationwide. The Structural Engineer will support design review and construction oversight of structural systems, including evaluation of structural integrity, compliance, and constructability for VA healthcare facilities.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical advisory support on structural systems to PM/CM and VA stakeholders
- Review structural design documents and calculations for code compliance, constructability, and alignment with project requirements
- Identify and document design deficiencies, coordination issues, and structural risks
- Evaluate structural systems for integrity, constructability, and compatibility with existing conditions
- Review shop drawings, submittals, RFIs, and change proposals, providing technical recommendations
- Support assessment of existing structures, renovations, and modifications
- Provide input on phasing and sequencing impacts related to structural work
- Support field inspections and evaluation of structural work, as required
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to resolve structural coordination issues
- Provide on-demand structural expertise (“reach-back support”) for complex issues
Required Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required; SE preferred
- 12+ years of structural engineering experience
- Experience with structural design and/or construction-phase services
- Demonstrated experience reviewing:
- Structural drawings and specifications
- Shop drawings and structural submittals
- Strong knowledge of:
- Applicable building codes and standards (IBC, ASCE, etc.)
- Structural systems for institutional or healthcare facilities
- Ability to evaluate existing structures and retrofit/renovation conditions
- Expert in structural integrity and seismic requirements for hospital infrastructure
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with VA, DoD, or USACE projects
- Experience with seismic design, progressive collapse, or blast-resistant design
- Experience supporting construction oversight or QA/QC roles
- Experience with renovation and modification of existing facilities
- Experience in claims support, forensic analysis, or dispute resolution
- Prior experience providing remote SME (“reach-back”) support
- Active or prior U.S. security clearance
- International project experience (e.g., USAID, MDBs)
