About the Position:
Green Powered Technology is seeking a Video Editor Consultant to support our Power Africa Communications Services contract with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). Power Africa is a U.S. Government-led partnership, coordinated by USAID, that brings together the collective resources of more than 170 public and private-sector partners to increase access to electricity in sub-Saharan Africa. Power Africa-supported projects are generating more than 5,500 megawatts of new, cleaner, and more reliable electricity, addressing climate change and helping to end energy poverty. In 2021, Power Africa renewable energy projects helped avoid 6.2 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions, the equivalent of burning 6.8 billion pounds of coal. To highlight the importance of this work, Power Africa, through GPTech, has produced multimedia products to inform local stakeholders and donor communities. This work is expected to continue to increase, and GPTech is seeking a Video Editor Consultant who can assist with minor edits on existing products or products in development.

Responsibilities:
This position is a back-up to our existing videographer and will be required to follow the existing video style and be able to jump into work that has been initiated by someone else.
The Video Editor Consultant will be responsible for editing and assembling recorded raw material into a suitable, finished product ready for broadcasting. The material may include camera footage, dialogue, sound effects, graphics, and special effects.

Key capabilities include:
  • video editing
  • sound editing
  • color grading
  • text and title changes on existing productions
  • offering expert opinion on style and positioning of videos

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, with an emphasis of video work, video editing, and effects
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in video editing
  • Experience with animation preferred
  • Experience working under a senior editor and the ability to take work and direction from others on the team
  • Experience working on a video production team
  • Can be available on short-notice
