POSITION TITLE: Youth Services Specialist

CHARACTERISTICS OF THE JOB: The Youth Services Specialist – 01 will engage in a wide spectrum of activities to assist youth to acquire the education, skills, and work experience to reach their full potential and prepare them to successfully transition into adulthood and higher education and/or employment. Working hours of the Youth Services Specialist-01 may vary to meet the needs of the program.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: More than 50% of time may be spent traveling and meeting within the county in office spaces and/or public locations. When on-site, clean, well-ventilated office space, overhead lighting, carpet, temperate climate, and constant exposure to moderate business office noise levels, such as office machines, conversations, and foot traffic.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Standing/sitting intermittently throughout the work shift; repetitive finger movements with frequent computer use; bending and stooping. Good visual acuity. Ability to regularly lift and move 10 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 25 pounds.

PROVIDES SUPERVISION TO: None
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Conduct community outreach to identify eligible and interested youth, and complete client intake.
- Work with youth to assess basic skills, interests, academic and career goals, work/life support needs, and health and financial well-being.
- Create an individual service plan for each youth.
- Provide youth with work readiness training and direct services such as resume building, job search skills, mock interviews, and soft skills development.
- Provide guidance and referrals to assist youth in attaining educational goals.
- Provide direct employment services, including contacting employers and partner organizations to identify suitable job shadowing, internship and work experience placements.
- Refer youth to resources to in the community to get necessary support services.
- Guide youth in building soft skills, such as communication, teamwork and leadership.
- Deliver workshops to youth—in person, via Zoom/Teams or hybrid.
- Provide on-going case management to assure that youth stay on track during and after the program.
- Maintain all caseload paperwork per program procedures, company policy, and CARF standards to ensure that all records of persons served are complete, clear, organized, and current.
- Complete reports with accuracy and on time.
- Gather client input through a variety of methods including surveys, success stories, and focus groups.
- Represent the agency at community events such as job fairs, resume clinics, and tabling events.
- Organize tasks and time to meet established program goals.

- Maintain confidentiality of all participant information and other appropriate materials
- Adhere to all safety policies and procedures
- Adhere to all agency and CARF policies and procedures
- Report accidents, unsafe vehicles, or other unsafe conditions
- Maintain a well-groomed, professional appearance
- Conduct self in a courteous and professional manner
- Attend all scheduled meetings, including safety and online safety trainings
- Serve as backup for other members of the Mission Services team, as needed
- Perform all other job-related duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma, or equivalent required. Associate or bachelor's degree preferred.
- At least 1 year of full-time work experience.
- Must be fingerprinted and approved by the Department of Justice prior to start of work.
- Valid CA Class C Driver’s License with at least 3 years of regular driving experience, and an MVR allowing insurable status.
- Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate that the essential functions of the job can be performed, with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Proficient in using Microsoft Word, Excel and Teams or Zoom.
