SAFETY SENSITIVE:  HIGH - This position is designated as safety sensitive and is subject to pre-employment, drug, and alcohol screening. 

The starting wage for this position is $35.00 per hour

**This position is not eligible for remote work. Regular on-site attendance is required. 

CHARACTERISTICS OF THE JOB:  Position has a responsibility to manage and coordinate product storage and movement while maintaining the safety culture and positive image of GIRE with regular oversite from Vice President of Donated Goods to ensure organizational standards, processes, and procedures are being managed. Adapting and handling multiple functions while adhering to Goodwill’s policies and procedures.

Use of time: It is anticipated that 75-80% of work time will be personnel management, and hands-on management of warehouse, transportation, yard functions.  Will be working side by side with direct reports. 20-25% of work time will be on administrative functions and regular communication and reporting on business functions to supervisor.

PROVIDES SUPERVISION TO: Warehouse, Transportation, as assigned.
  
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Personnel Focus
•    Provide supervision and leadership for the GIRE warehouse, and transportation staff in accordance with GIRE operational standards.
•    Create accountability through training of all employees, clients and volunteers in proper work habits, job responsibilities, and the policies & procedures of GIRE.
•    Responsible for effectively resolving issues with team members, clients and donors, and to hold accountabilities with timely feedback that may include formal documentation up to and including recommendations for terminations.

Warehouse Focus:
•    Perform all shipping and receiving duties that enter the warehouse including intercompany mail, daily monitoring, and assignment location of inventory and inventory movement (Outgoing product and incoming product placement) i.e., Donated Goods-Raw and Post Retail, for example.
•    Responsible for ensuring that all warehouse equipment, tools, and supplies are maintained in good working condition. Scheduling of maintenance as needed.
•    Responsible to ensure supplies are ordered as necessary for operations. 

Transportation Focus:
•    Responsible for ensuring consistent communication and reliable transportation to all DGR sites for the purpose of movement of inventory, supply deliveries, and trash pickup
•    Ensure regular, preventative maintenance of GIRE fleet and that they are being used appropriately and safely. 
•    Responsible for ensuring that all Federal and State DOT requirements are adhered to, and reported as appropriate, in coordination with Safety and HR.
•    Ensure trash and compactor pickups are scheduled appropriately

Post-Retail Focus
•    Ensure fulfillment of salvage sales by effective inventory tracking, monitoring, and production of items moved to the salvage market

Administrative Focus:
•    Recruit, select, hire, onboard and train direct reports 
•    Perform, deliver, and manage performance management standards for all direct report staff. 
•    Prepare accurate and complete paperwork and reports. Communicate with appropriate department, including but not limited to reports to supervisor, payroll, invoices, incident and accident reports, and BOL’s and Seals.

ANCILLARY FUNCTIONS
•    Serve as back up for any position in the department as needed to accomplish goals.
•    Drives GIRE company vehicles including 26’ box trucks as needed to support business functions.
•    Effectively resolve issues with DGR team members, customers, and donors – 
must be comfortable with occasional conflict, addressing issues and solving problems in a practical and healthy manner
•    Work collaboratively with the GIRE Safety Coordinator and others as needed to ensure and enforce that the policies and procedures for safety are being followed.
•    Attend all safety meetings including online safety trainings as required.
•    Actively participate in all trainings and meetings. 
•    Maintain a neat, clean and safe worksite(s)
•    Respond to occasional alarm and emergency calls outside regular business hours
•    Perform all other job-related duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:
•    Minimum of three (3) years’ experience of increasing responsibility in supervision and management.
•    Three (3) or more years’ experience in material handling, warehouse operations, transportation and/or donated goods product flow.
•    Good communication skills in English, both in writing and orally, to relay information within the business; to respond appropriately to legal and/or sensitive issues.
•    Good math skills such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division. percentages, etc.
•    Ability to use technology at a basic skill level in Office suite including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point, and Teams. Ability to use Zoom and GPS systems.
•    DMV record with no preventable accidents or moving violations for past three years, and no convictions for driving under the influence of alcohol; or drugs, or reckless driving. Report must be acceptable to GIRE’s insurance carrier.
•    Minimum of (3) years’ experience driving large vehicles ex; 26’ Box truck, moving trucks, 5th wheel truck towing a trailer or camper, Cargo Van, Motorhomes, or similar type vehicles.
•    Access to a phone to receive emergency and coverage calls when not on site. This includes site alarm calls and emergency calls from Transportation and Warehouse staff. 
•    Required to have experience, understanding, and capacity to learn how to use heavy machinery including auto baler, compactor, tippers, vertical baler, forklift.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:  Continuous exposure to all weather elements/conditions resulting from regularly working indoors and outside. Walking surfaces include asphalt, concrete, dirt, tile, linoleum, carpet including uneven surfaces. Constant exposure to moving machinery and vehicles. Moderate to loud continuous noise level. Moderate dust level exposure. Private office with standard office equipment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:  Standing, sitting, walking intermittently throughout work shift. Frequently lifting up to 50 lbs. Bending, twisting, stooping, pulling, pushing, reaching and grasping. Gross manual dexterity skills required. Visual acuity, hearing and verbal skills required.
