GZA GeoEnvironmental, Inc. (GZA) is currently seeking a Geologist/Environmental Engineer in our Chicago, Illinois office.  The ideal candidate must be a highly motivated independent self-starter with a client-oriented focus and a professional attitude.   
 
Typical Duties May Include:
  • Conduct field work (outdoor, all-season), sample collection (soil, sediment, ground water, and surface water) and other forms of field data collection and mapping
  • Perform Environmental Site Assessments – Phase I & II
  • Assist in data interpretation and preparation of site work plans, spreadsheets, figures, technical reports, and permits
  • Prepare calculations and permit applications and routine compliance reports for clients
  • Communicate effectively and efficiently with contractors and team members
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Geology (or related field) required (Master’s Degree is a plus)
  • 2-5 years of relevant experience
  • Highly motivated self-starter with a professional attitude
  • Strong written and verbal communication, problem-solving and organizational skills are essential
  • Ability to perform field tasks and activities as required by the project
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to travel at local and regional levels
  • 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER training and environmental investigation experience is a plus
