GZA GeoEnvironmental, Inc. (GZA) is currently seeking a Chief Information Officer (CIO) who is an exceptional leader and dynamic technology professional.  GZA’s goal is to develop an IT environment that is considered best-in-class for the Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) industry.  The successful candidate must demonstrate that they can create and implement a plan to achieve that goal while implementing operating efficiencies and at the same time, support the expansion of our capabilities for emerging service areas (i.e., Data Management and Visualization Services).  

The CIO will be responsible for all aspects of information technology management and control, including providing leadership and direction to the IT staff; preparation and management of the IT budget; provide recommendations for the integration of acquisitions, maintenance, and enhancements to the IT infrastructure and related security; and development of guidelines, standards, and procedures.

The CIO is also charged with strategic planning, including disaster recovery and business continuity planning and operational decision-making to support near term and longer-term operating objectives that support GZA’s Strategic Vision. To that end, the CIO must possess initiative and have broad relevant technical knowledge, excellent management, and project management capabilities; along with strong written, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills. 

As a member of executive management, reporting to GZA’s Chief Operating Officer, the CIO will be responsible for IT leadership, management, and vision.  The CIO will design and implement information systems that optimize organizational efficiency and ensure the stable operation and maintenance of in-house software and hardware.  In this regard, this person will provide leadership to and oversight of the IT Operations Team that maintains both local and wide area networks, servers and workstations ensuring that performance is consistently excellent and that inherent risks are adequately assessed and addressed.
The CIO will act as the Information Security Officer of the Firm with the responsibility of overseeing information security standards and cybersecurity protocols. This person will lead the development and implementation of the GZA’s IT security policies, procedures, practices, and staff awareness training, and will interact with all levels of staff to monitor and validate compliance with GZA’s security policies through the implementation of and use of the CyberSaint platform.   

Data Management and Innovation have been identified as key differentiators and initiatives for GZA.  To support these initiatives, the CIO will provide direct oversite and guidance to members of the Data Management Group (DMG).  The DMG has been tasked with improving how the company collects, stores, visualizes and reports data using various technical software platforms (i.e., ArcGIS, EQuIS, Quire, AutoCAD, gINT, GeoMoS, Thor, Deltawatch, etc.).  In addition, this person will coordinate the activities of the Technology Advisory Group (TAG) which includes the most technologically-inclined technical staff in each office in support of the company’s Innovation Initiative.   



Qualifications:

 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Information Technology or related field
  • Master’s Degree in Business Management or Information Management preferred
  • 10+ years of Information Technology experience with preferably A/E/C or professional service firms
  • Demonstrated progressively responsible information technology management and leadership roles
  • Experience managing diverse staff and interdisciplinary teams in a multi-office company
  • Has a passion for innovation
  • Proven ability to drive change through collaboration and influence
  • Excellent interpersonal relations and presentation skills
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Demonstrated professional judgment, consistency and strong attention to detail
