Position Summary:
Responsible for duties to carry out and execute specified Sheetmetal systems

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Fabricate, assemble, install, and repair sheet metal products and equipment, such as ducts, control boxes, drainpipes, and furnace casings.
  • Setting up and operating fabricating machines to cut, bend, and straighten sheet metal;
  • Shaping metal over anvils, blocks, or forms using hammer; operating soldering and welding equipment to join sheet metal parts;
  • Inspecting, assembling, and smoothing seams and joints of burred surfaces.
  • Install prefabricated sheet metal ducts used for heating, air conditioning, or other purposes.  

Qualification/Requirements:
  • Ability to organize and prioritize to meet deadlines.
  • Strong working knowledge of building codes and design criteria
  • Must be flexible in work hours
  • Proficiency with spreadsheet and word processing software
  • Ability to effectively operate office equipment, to include desktop computers, calculators, printers, copy machines and telephones.
  • Verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
  • Good attitude; must be a team player.
 
Special Requirements:
  • Will work under direction/supervision of Journeyperson Sheetmetal Worker
 
Education/Training:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Currently enrolled in the Sheetmetal Apprenticeship program
  • 1+ years experience preferred.

*Must be a member in good standing with the Sheet Metal Workers International Association Local Union 293
