Position Title:        Maintenance Worker I
Reports To:           Pipefitter General Foreman

Position Summary:
Various duties to install and maintain integrity of refrigeration and air conditioning equipment, controls, and pipe systems.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Layout, fabricate, assemble, install and maintain  cooling equipment and controls and pipe systems
  • Design, install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair both residential and commercial refrigeration and air conditioning equipment.
  • Interpret plans and specifications
  • Use all tools of the trade to cut, connect, and install piping and equipment
  • Must follow EPA guidelines for handling refrigerants
  • Understand the public health safety in regards to the preservation of food and indoor air qualities
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualification/Requirements:
  • Hawaii Driver’s License
  • Basic electrical knowledge for various control systems
  • Basic knowledge for handling fluids and gases under pressure
  • Ability to multi-task, organize and prioritize to meet deadlines.
  • Must be flexible in work hours, on call as needed
  • Ability to effectively operate office equipment, to include desktop computers, calculators, printers, copy machines and telephones.
  • Verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
  • Good attitude; must be a team player.
  • Previous experience is preferred but not necessary.

Education/Training:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Satisfactory completion of 0-1000+ hours of work experience in refrigeration trade through Local 675’s Apprenticeship Program
  • Must be able to understand physics of liquids, gases, refrigerants, electricity and electrical controls
  • 6 months to 1 years of work experience in the refrigeration and air conditioning field
