POSITION:                         LAUNDRY ATTENDANT/ HOUSEKEEPER
DEPARTMENT:                  HOTEL
REPORTS TO:                   GENERAL MANAGER


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be age 21 or older
  • Must be able to qualify for a gaming license
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening
  • Must have a high school diploma or G.E.D.
  • Previous experience with laundry and dry cleaning preferred
  • Previous housekeeping experience preferred
  • Must be knowledgeable in operating laundry equipment such as washers, dryers, irons, and steamers
  • Ability to work flexible hours and take directions from management 
  • Ability to follow instruction, follow routines is required
  • Attention to detail is required
  • Ability to work independently is a must
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Sort and wash laundry based on color, fabric, and type, and then load them into the washer using proper detergents and cleaning solutions
  • Identify worn and torn linen and keep track of rag outs
  • Fold Linen and terry cloth items, hang and package laundered items as needed to be ready for use
  • Ensure the washing of linen is up to standard before placing into inventory
  • Communicate any maintenance and upkeep issues to appropriate person relating to all laundry equipment
  • Multitask with linen in various machines running at the same time with different products
  • Ensure that the proper amount of linen is ready and available to disperse to the guest floors
  • Ensure that work is closely coordinated with housekeeping to determine the proper level of products is kept in the laundry storage areas on the guest floors
  • Maintaining Cleanliness and Safety Standards: You will keep the laundry area clean, organized, and safe. You will ensure that all cleaning equipment is properly used and stored.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and neatness of the laundry area and the equipment
  • Knows all safety and emergency procedures
  • Keep an inventory of supplies such as detergents, bleach, and fabric softeners
  • Maintain the laundry facility’s equipment and ensure that it is properly functioning
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule to include weekends, graveyard shifts, and holidays
  • Performs other reasonable duties as directed by the leadership team
  • Clean guest rooms per company requirements
  • Assist as needed in laundry and public areas
  • Maintain the stocking of housekeeping carts with linen and guest supplies
  • Respond to guest requests and needs
  • Report maintenance deficiencies and items in need of repair
  • Perform deep cleaning tasks per company requirements
  • Greet all guests in a friendly manner
  • Be able to work weekends, holidays, and nights
  • Other duties as assigned

WORK ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS:
Requires standing for long periods of time and on occasion may be asked to lift and carry up to 40 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, it may be also required to reach, bend, push, pull, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  Requires finger dexterity, grasping, standing, and/or walking for periods of up to four hours with no break.  Work is generally performed in the laundry room where exposure to noise and higher temperatures are due to the equipment producing heat.  Exposure to soaps, detergents, bleach, and other cleaning chemicals, which may cause skin irritations if not handled with care.
