POSITION TITLE:               Resort Financial Controller
 
REPORTS TO:                    Resort General Manager

RESPONSIBLE FOR:         Accounting Staff

SALARY RANGE:              $ 68K to $73K Annually DOE

 
Duties and Responsibilities:
 
  • Responsible for supervising all financial and accounting functions of the Resort and will oversee regulatory compliance and internal controls of the financial area.
  • Maintenance of the Resort’s bank accounts, licenses, leases and contracts.
  • Preparing and presenting Budget to Actual monthly and YTD variances
  • Preparing and presenting timely monthly and annual financial statements
  • Ensuring compliance with state and federal regulatory requirements and professional standards.
  • Establishing and maintaining financial controls with the accounting department.
  • Guiding financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures.
  • Providing support to management, particularly in financial and budget matters.
  • Creating reports that help senior leadership understand company financials.
  • Ensure financial compliance and being responsible for the company general ledger.
  • Mentor Financial staff - Accountable for manpower planning and the firing, training and supervision of the Accounting staff, handling discipline in accordance with Resort procedures and conducting regular performance appraisals of the accounting staff. 
  • Responsible for informing the General Manager of any significant deviations from the budget. 
  • Lead annual audit and prepare various financial reports required by the Auditors
  • Additional Controller duties as required by the General Manager
REQUIREMENTS: Must be age 21 or older, pass a background check and be subject to bonding.


EDUCATION:          4 year Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics or relevant degree required.  CPA and/or Master’s of Accounting preferred. Must be able to communicate in the primary language of the workplace.

EXPERIENCE:        5 to 7 years corporate accounting experience with minimum 3 years of direct supervisory experience of at least five accountants or bookkeepers.  Excellent communication and people management skills required.  Computer literate with advanced knowledge of spreadsheets (Excel). Recent Quickbooks hands-on experience a MUST.

PHYSICAL:              Visual acuity, finger dexterity, repetitive motions, position requires sitting for long periods, reaching.
