The Direct Support Professional will work with IDD consumers, families, caregivers, and case managers to provide training, and daily living activities in a day habilitation setting. The Direct Support Professional will provide training in academics, social skills, and personal hygiene. This position provides an excellent opportunity for a creative and energetic person to encourage and facilitate active participation in personal and social skill development.

Essential job Functions

  • Plan and conduct activities for IDD consumers

  • Provide training in academic skills, such as basic math and reading

  • Provide individual and group training in skills related to personal hygiene

  • Participate in treatment team meetings to help set future goals

  • Monitoring consumers for safety and reporting any concerns to supervisor

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent written communication  and computer keyboarding for documenting training
  • Excellent verbal communication with consumers, staff, and community providers
  • transporting consumers to and assisting them with activities
  • Stooping, bending, sitting, standing for prolonged periods and lifting 50-75 pounds
  • Ability to be CPR and SAMA certified
  • Valid driver's license, liability insurance, and reliable transportation required

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED
  • At least six months of IDD experience required
  • Experience as an aide in special education classroom setting preferred

Hours: M-F 8AM-5PM

Salary: $18,870.08 Annually/$9.01 Hourly
