Ensures services for individuals with mental illness or substance use disorder, involved in criminal justice system, are provided assessments and necessary follow up by the teams. Work involves ensuring services provided meet the standards of contracts, agency, and other funding standards. Also provides, participates in community collaborations and meetings related to jail diversion initiatives. Works under moderate supervision of the Director of Behavioral Health Justice-Involved Programs with latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgement in carrying out details of the work.
EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:
- Supervises staff assigned to Jail Diversion or the SB 292 Program.
- Identifies and screens individual sin the legal system for mental illness
- Provides on-site assessments and develops intervention
- Provides crisis support as deemed necessary
- Coordinates referrals and case management
- Provides continuity of care services with area jails
- Prepares progress notes and other required documentation
- Advocates with legal entities for person with mental illness
- Provides reports for court as requested
- Appears in court to advocate for individuals as requested
Knowledge, Skills, and Essential Functions
- Excellent written communication and computer keyboarding
- Excellent verbal communication with clients, staff, and community providers
- Supervisory skills including problem resolution and maintaining relationships with community partners.
- Must have strong time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to delegate tasks and duties.
- Ability to be CPR and PMAB certified
- Valid driver's license, liability insurance, and reliable transportation required
- Local travel 10% of the time, and Regional Travel 25% of time.
- Responsible for determining eligibility and overseeing unit compliance.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's or Master's in social work, counseling, psychology marriage and family or related field. Master's Preferred
- Education may be substituted for experience on a year-for year basis up to 2 years
- 4 Year Case management experience Required
- 1+ year of supervisory experience Preferred
Hours: 8AM-5PM M-F (other times as needed to meet the needs of the unit)
Salary: $ 48,400 - $52,400 Annual Salary
