CIVIL ENGINEERING INTERN (EI/EIT)
Abaci Consulting, Inc. is seeking a full-time Civil Engineering Intern (EI/EIT) with a BSCE to join our team in Grimes, Iowa. This position will work on land development projects in the Des Moines metro and throughout Central Iowa under the direction of a Professional Engineer (PE).

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Reviews the designs, plans, and engineering reports for public infrastructure projects including street and utility improvements. Prepares the street paving, water mains, storm sewers, sanitary sewers, storm water detention, grading and erosion control measures against applicable engineering standards to obtain City/County approvals.
- Assists in the preparation of conceptual plans and estimates, including planning and coordination with current and anticipated developments.
- Monitors construction improvements on specific projects during the construction season.
- Participates in the in-house engineering design and development of construction documents for site plan and land subdivision projects including plans, specifications, and bids.
- Attends work related meetings and assists with staff presentations as required.
- Bachelor’s of Science in Civil Engineering
- Possession of an Engineer Intern Certificate issued by the State of Iowa or equivalent from another state
- Valid driver’s license and insured
- Highly motivated individual able to work well in a collaborative environment
- Ability to develop and maintain relationships with clients, government representatives, and contractors
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet time-sensitive deadlines
- Willingness to quickly adopt new skills and knowledge brought about by rapidly changing information and/or technology
- The ability to observe detail at a close range to ensure accuracy and quality control of engineering designs and other work projects
- Sufficient manual dexterity with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to operate computerized equipment and surveying equipment
- Occasional exposure to outdoor conditions and traversal of construction zones including trenches and rough terrain
