AIPSO is a management organization and service provider for various insurance industry groups responsible for administering the residual market. We are a national organization that serves local customer needs. Centralization and standardization are key to many AIPSO services because of the inherent economies of scale and other efficiencies.  However, our organization is based on customer focus and recognizes the need for flexibility in serving customer groups with diverse interests.

Site: Rhode Island Home Office
Shift: Hybrid- 3 days in the office and 2 days at home each week (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday in office)
Hours: 8:00-4:30 w/ 1 Hour lunch
Training: 100% Onsite training for 30-60 days based on progress and then Hybrid schedule.  Remainder of training can be on the hybrid schedule (in office and remote)

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
• Supervise and direct the day-to-day operations and staffing of the underwriting unit to
  ensure a high level of efficiency.
• Monitor the underwriting process for compliance with Plan standards and standard
  operating procedures.
• Coordinate changes to the operation because of revisions and/or amendments to the
  Plan or procedures.
• Develop and maintain relationships with external customers, producers and companies.
• Handle complex underwriting problems and inquiries from Insurance Regulators,
  insureds, subscriber companies, producers, etc.
• Compile and monitor productivity and performance data for on-going evaluations. 
•  Monitor transaction reports, system reports and phone reports to determine quality of performance metrics.
• Provide expert testimony at depositions and in court.
• Document and resolve system problems/enhancements in conjunction with Programming staff.
• Assist management in developing, managing and controlling the annual budget.
• Provide information and training to staff regarding Plan Manual revisions.

Education:
Associate’s degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school or a Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university is preferred. Additional appropriate experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.  Insurance designations are a plus.

Experience:
5 or more years of experience in the automobile insurance industry, with experience in the residual market automobile industry preferred.  Prior supervisory experience required. Customer service, policy processing and underwriting experience is preferred.    

Skills & Knowledge:
• Ability to collaborate with and provide guidance to staff on daily work product as well as
  the ability to provide training on more complex underwriting concepts.
• Provide leadership by example through feedback and input in group meetings and    
  discussions.
• Effective problem-solving skills, including ability to analyze complex issues, find the root cause of the problem, and consider a wide range of alternatives before acting.
• Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills, including ability to
  effectively present information and respond to questions from groups or individuals.
• Ability to multi-task and demonstrate flexibility while maintaining attention to detail.
• Demonstrate excellent organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and interact professionally and effectively in a team   
  environment.
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office productivity tools (e.g. Outlook, Word, Excel) to 
  manage work.
