AIPSO is a management organization and service provider for various insurance industry groups responsible for administering the residual market. We are a national organization that serves local customer needs. Centralization and standardization are key to many AIPSO services because of the inherent economies of scale and other efficiencies.  However, our organization is based on customer focus and recognizes the need for flexibility in serving customer groups with diverse interests.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Refine the backlog; ensure the product backlog items are clearly defined and properly estimated with sizing; follow up with key stakeholders to confirm and clarify understanding of requirements.
  • Act as a customer advocate and as the primary link to the business and technology strategy; work with stakeholders to assess value, develop cases, and prioritize epics, features, and stories to ensure work aligns with product strategy; evaluate options especially in the areas of risk and issue resolution, and functionality needed to address capability gaps.
  • Work closely with the internal teams to track and identify dependencies and coordinate data releases with software releases when needed.
  • Develop user stories and acceptance criteria using accepted business analysis standards and incorporate into the product roadmap.
  • Make decisions for the features to include in each sprint release based on the value delivered to customers; monitor and make decisions on test failures; as well as resolving any resource assignment conflicts.
  • Facilitate regular communications with stakeholders and remediate any disconnects; regularly share status with cross functional teams.
  • Facilitate regular standups and track release burndown at the story, feature, and epic level. Resolve issues and blockers for the team; communicate and escalate issues appropriately through all applicable channels when issues arise.
  • Refine our agile methodology based on results and feedback.

Education:
Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) from four-year college or university preferred. Additional appropriate experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Experience:
3 or more years of experience as a Product Owner/Product Manager role. Insurance industry experience and an understanding of Policy Administration Systems required. Commercial automobile insurance experience and/or familiarity with the residual market preferred.

Skills & Knowledge:
  • Working knowledge of Agile Frameworks, preferably Scrum and/or SAFe.
  • Ability to effectively manage conflicting needs of stakeholders.
  • Effective problem-solving and critical thinking skills, including ability to analyze and break down complex issues, find the root cause of the problem, and consider a wide range of alternatives before acting.
  • Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups or individuals.
  • Ability to multi-task and demonstrate flexibility while maintaining attention to detail within established timeframe.
  • Demonstrate excellent organizational and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and interact professionally and effectively in a team environment.
  • Provide leadership by example through feedback and input in group meetings and discussions.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office productivity tools (e.g. Outlook, Word, Excel, Visio) to manage work.

Salary Range: $79,600 - $127,200/$95,000 - $151,800 Annual.  Actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity, and location of the role as well as the cost of labor in the market; the skills, education, training, credentials, and experience of the candidate; internal equity and other conditions of employment.
