Data Analytics Intern Summer 2025 (Johnston, RI)

 AIPSO is a management organization and service provider for various insurance industry groups responsible for administering the residual market. We are a national organization that serves local customer needs. Centralization and standardization are key to many AIPSO services because of the inherent economies of scale and other efficiencies.  However, our organization is based on customer focus and recognizes the need for flexibility in serving customer groups with diverse interests.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
• Assist with entry level data analysis and report creation using SQL, Excel, and Power BI.
• Create procedures to extract and transform policy and claims data for actuarial and operational analysis.
• Assist with developing and testing algorithms to create analytic datasets.
• Implement and automate balancing procedures, and other data quality checks and processes.
• Assist with creating visual presentation of analyses and metrics, to proactively identify data trends and anomalies.
• Assist with creating process documentation, and with data governance and stewardship responsibilities.
• Assist in responding to questions from internal and external customers.
• Identify and act upon opportunities to streamline and automate processes.

Education
Pursuing a Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) from a four-year college or university majoring in Data Analysis, Actuarial Science, Applied Math, Statistics, Computer Science, or related field preferred.

Experience
This is an entry-level position. 0-1 year of related or transferable business experience or knowledge, such as that may have been gained through an internship or college coursework.

• Ability to balance and manage project timelines and deadlines.
•Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office productivity tools (erg. Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).
•Effective problem-solving skills, including ability to analyze issues, find the root cause of the problem, and consider a wide range of alternatives.
•Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups or individuals.
•Ability to multi-task and demonstrate flexibility while maintaining attention to detail.
•Demonstrate excellent organizational skills.
•Ability to work independently and interact professionally and effectively in a team environment.
•Demonstrate excellent customer service skills by being able to follow directions and interpret customer needs.

Salary Range
$20/hour. Actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity, and location of the role as well as the cost of labor in the market; the skills, education, training, credentials, and experience of the candidate; internal equity and other conditions of employment.
